@KateLane2343 Awesome! Congratulations!
Still waiting for a decision. Although got a nice “Holiday wishes” card from UC. Ummmm Hello that is not the communication I am waiting for at this point…lol
All of my stats are well above UC’s average (4.4 weighted GPA, 17/559 rank, a lot of leadership activities, a ton of community service, work experience, etc.) so I’m quite surprised I still haven’t heard and I am honestly starting to reconsider other schools as my top choice. If UC takes forever to get a decision to me alone I can only imagine how long it will take them to give me scholarship offers and that’s something I need to know like now so I can start thinking about where I can afford to go… This entire thing is so frustrating. It is so irritating to see classmates with much lower stats get accepted before me. Needless to say my interest in UC has dropped.
@kayleighbrown - I am with you on your note. If a ROLLING admissions college like UC takes forever to respond about their decisions, I wonder how timely their notification about financial / scholarship packet will be. I do not like to be rushed into selecting a college and then their dorms etc. at the very last minute. I have already heard back from some other ones…so if they do not revert back with something here soon, I will move on …of course I will keep checking their decision, but it won’t hold me back !!
@dreamed what other colleges did you apply to? I only applied to three altogether and I sort of regret it. Already got accepted to OSU and should be accepted to UC and Miami U, but who knows how long it will take to hear back from them. I may also apply to Florida State but need to finish my application. I just haven’t had time for other applications. And I have a list of other “might apply” schools but I need to really get on that this weekend in order for everything to get to admissions on time. And since I waited so darn long I might not even be offered the Florida State out of state fee waiver I was expecting. Ugh I hate the college application process.
What colleges did you apply to/get accepted already to?
@kayleighbrown - I applied early on in the process except for DUKE, because they are binding if I had submitted it early.
University of Toledo – Heard back, accepted
Wittenberg – Heard back, accepted
OSU – Heard back, accepted
Miami Univ (Oh) – Applied, will not hear back until Feb, because I applied Early Action - Waiting
BS/MD program – Applied, will hear back sometime in Mid Dec - Waiting
University of Cincy – Applied – Waiting
UOM - Applied, will hear back sometime in Mid Dec / Jan – Waiting
UNC – Applied, will hear back sometime in Jan - Waiting
DUKE - Applied, will hear back sometime in Jan - Waiting
At this time OSU is ranking high on my list as far as choice school for in state. If BS/MD programs come through it will be a tough decision.
Which program did you apply to at OSU? I applied to BME. Are you in state ? Local to CBUS ?
@dreamed congrats on all of your acceptances! I probably should’ve applied to at least a couple more schools yikes
I applied to Public Health at OSU because I was not aware they have a pharmaceutical major for undergraduate students so I would see if I could change majors if i did end up going to Ohio State. I did love OSU when I went on my visit but it’s just so expensive among other cons, but if UC takes much longer it’ll probably push me toward OSU.
I’m from Dayton, OH. What part of Ohio are you from? Do you have family in North Carolina or just enjoy the area and the schools there? I considered applying to Duke but I’ve never really been to North Carolina so I don’t know the area well. I’m considering applying to some other out of state schools though. Maybe a couple smaller schools in Florida and Boston. Maybe a school in Pennsylvania. I do love New England so maybe a school or two within New England. Lots to think about!
@kayleighbrown - I did all my apps Early Action (prior to Nov1st) except DUKE which I submitted last week. Mainly because I did not want to deal with them in the next year 2016…
I am from Columbus. Born and raised here, so definitely, this is my comfort / home place. I do not have family in NC, but I like DUKE and UNC both. My top choice would have been DUKE, but finances will keep me away from DUKE. Yet, I applied at DUKE and UNC. I was applying mostly to close by schools except NC schools, because I know I have to do grad school (most probably Med School) right after my under grad, so I am trying to stretch my college funding $$. My parents have agreed to fund the undergrad education; granted I keep the expenses in control. OSU is my prime choice also because I have an incline to the Buckeyes, being local to Cbus, I can live at home (if I choose to) and stretch my education fund. So getting into OSU and living home is essentially equal to a scholarship (that’s how I am looking at it).
Have you received a call from OSU? I have, one of their 3rd year student called to speak to me to see, (about 2 weeks ago in the evening), if I had any questions about the dorm, program, food etc. I was pleasantly surprised. Now I am in a wait mode for their scholarship information. Have you applied to Honors / scholars as well, not sure if I have already asked this…sorry if this is a repeat question?
If you have any questions related to Columbus, feel free to ask. Would be glad to help.
@dreamed thanks! I do love the Columbus area and know it pretty well from all of the times a close friend and I have gone up there for hockey games and other fun.
I’m not sure if OSU ever gave me a call. We don’t typically pay attention to our home phone so we may have missed it. I was accepted in the first round of admissions so I probably did miss it but that’s okay! I completely understand what you mean about stretching your college money. I’ll have to attend Pharmacy school right after I get undergraduate done so it’ll be 7 or 8 years altogether. I’ve been applying to sooo many scholarships lately.
I only applied to the scholars program. I decided I’m done being an “honors student” with more rigorous classes and such. I barely had any stress-free time or free time in general in high school and I want college to be different
At this point I’m just looking to go to the cheapest college that still has a good reputation for programs I’m interested in. OSU and UC unfortunately probably won’t be as cheap as I would like though. But I expect to get at least half-ride from Miami U
@kayleighbrown - Ha ha, I also applied to Scholars and for Morrill Scholarship for exact same reason. Who knows maybe we will run into each other at OSU :-). I hope you get the best offer ! I am not applying to any outside scholarships, not yet at least. I will start applying for them after the holidays and my midterm.
@kayleighbrown We’re in the same boat… I wish I applied to more schools.
@dreamed I also received a nice “Holiday wishes” card from U.C… This is frustrating.
I didn’t even receive a happy holidays card haha!
@KarimChammaa & @kayleighbrown - Mine went straight to recycle …lol… Last night around 10 pm EST, their entire website was down …I was trying to see if a decision had been made.
I just got an email around 6:30 am this morning saying a decision has been made. I’ve been accepted! I really hope you guys get your decision soon because I know how much the wait sucks! I applied around October 26 if you want a time frame reference
@kayleighbrown - Good for you ! Which program ? I checked my UC login this morning and no decision shows. . Congrats !
Congratulations @kayleighbrown! That’s awesome!
Thank you both of you! It is the Pre-Pharmacy program in McMicken College of Arts and Sciences. @dreamed @KarimChammaa
I really hope you get a decision soon! What date did you apply?
@kayleighbrown - I submitted my app on 10/12/2015, my ACT, Transcript, Recommendations were submitted in September. So now where will go ?? OSU or UC ?? ;
@kayleighbrown - Typo, So now where will you go ?? OSU or UC ?? ;))
