Apparently only one Brazilian studies at Pomona (out of a total of only 3 students from South America). I honestly don’t know if that helps my application or not, but Pomona is a superb school and it would be fantastic to be accepted there!
I just got an email from Pomona and decisions are definitely coming out “Friday, March 18, 2016 after 5 p.m. PDT.” Sucks for all of us on the east coast
Got that email too! The wait is going to be horrible
Woah woah, I didn’t get any email about that, could that be a bad sign?
I got that email too! I thought everyone had gotten it… Has anyone else got it too?
@starsatdawn @ThatGirlCoder @skywalker11
I think all RD applicants received the email, but ED deferrals did not.
These past few months have been crazy. I wish us all the best! Hopefully Pomona college is in our near future!
Am I the only one slightly freaking out?
I am very much freaking out @skywalker11
It’s actually quite interesting to observe this site for early decision versus regular decision. Pomona had roughly 900 ED applicants compared to several thousand (7,000? 8,000? 10,000?) for RD, but the ED thread was more active. That comparison tells me ED applicants (binding commitment) are very dedicated to the one school, whereas RD applicants are less so.
I for one fail to understand why ED applicants aren’t more favored at many colleges.
Eek I’m so nervous… I accidentally became attached to Pomona (I was trying not to get too attached anywhere until I got in) and I fear I’ll get my heart broken tomorrow. Time to see how much coach support helps my case
So here’s something interesting: https://www.pomona.edu/admissions/first-year-admissions-guidelines/frequently-asked-questions-about-decisions.
If you follow that link, click on the question about the waitlist and then the sub-question about how many people Pomona waitlists. It looks like they waitlisted 12%, but more importantly, it says that the College had “over 8,100 applicants.” Last year, Pomona received 8,091 applications. Seems odd (if the 8,100 applicants is for this year) since ED applications were up 26% this year…RD apps were down??
@golfcashoahu Hmm, I don’t necessarily think that a lack of activity on this thread means that applicants aren’t as dedicated or excited. ED applicants find out about their decisions in the middle of a random time, and their ED decision is the only one they are waiting for, whereas most RD applicants are distracted with all the other colleges they’ve applied to as well. Others might just be lurkers like myself. All depends on the personality, really
Just my opinion. I’m sure this thread will be somewhat active when decisions come out tomorrow!
How many hrs left till decision is out?
@Learner12388 here’s a countdown http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?iso=20160318T17&p0=137&msg=Pomona+College+Decisions&font=cursive
7 hours and 47 minutes!
Woops! Add twelve hours to that…so 19 hours and 47 minutes!
Good luck, everyone! This is so nerve-wracking…
I applied to Pomona under the ED process and got deferred. I didn’t get an email about RD either. I’m so nervous it’s horrible
Good luck everybody! We can do it!
