I was wondering if everyone listing a major is just stating what they applied for or if it actually says it on your acceptance.

not my top choice, but it is my first US acceptance so feeling great. So far got rejected from UIUC and UT Austin, waiting on USC UMich Rice CMU, though they all look unlikely with the exception of USC(I have my reasons to say so)
Congratulations to everyone who got accepted, if I enroll at RPI I look forward to a great time with all of you. Those who were waitlisted or rejected, don’t lose heart, there is always that one place out there that wants you, and which college you attend accounts for a speck of what you accomplish later in life, the onus is always on us. Good luck!
OThisWait - I just put down what my con applied for, his letter didn’t say his major either.
D was accepted, but no mention of major or FA.
Hi everyone! I am very excited to have been accepted to RPI. I applied for chemical engineering.
1950 (Superscore)
3.9 GPA (unweighted)
8 APs
Lots of extracurriculars
I was conditionally accepted they said they would send me the conditions in the mail which I would assume would be that I must complete my physics course with a B or better
I had a 29 ACT, 30 if you “super score” all the ACTs I took and a 95.69/100 gpa
I’m not going though its too much money
S has the “due to the special nature of the program, decisions will be mailed” message. He was notified he wasn’t forwarded to Albany Med, and then submitted the required essay for “regular” RPI admission into Chemistry, back in late January. ACT 35, GPA 4.4, son of alumnus (me!).
Son accepted, 36 ACT, National Merit Finalist, 800 math2 800 Chem, 3.79 uw 4.3 w.
No merit offer ?
Yeah, my stats were:
3.9 UW GPA, 4.5 W GPA
36 ACT, 2400 SAT, 800/800/800 Math 2/Physics/Chemistry SAT II
5’s on AP US History, AP English Lit, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics C: Mechanics
ECs: Piano, figure skating, science fair, etc… nothing major
White female, $45,000 family income
So I was really hoping for a merit offer. Perhaps some will be released later?
Decision: I DON’T KNOW!
I never received an email giving me my PIN to log in with, and when I tried to reset it I still didn’t receive it. I even emailed them and they responded, saying they reset it for me, but I STILL can’t log in. Way to stress me out more.
Did anyone else have the same problem as me?
UPDATE: I called the admissions office, and I got my PIN code.
Decision: Wait listed

For those wondering about major, I found this on the Rensselaer Admissions Facebook page in response to that question: “You were accepted to the major/school that you indicated on your application. This major may be found in the confirmation email you received when you applied. If you are in doubt, feel free to give us a call next week and we can check your file to see what you put down.”
It also said there were 18,500 applications, which I think is about 800 more than last year.
Son accepted
ACT 28
GPA 3.5 uw
EC: 5 varsity letters in 2 sports (skipped senior year soccer), all-state track and field, academic all-state, orchestra, piano, freshman mentor
Unique life experiences, so I suspect his essays were well-received. Also, official visit made courtesy of track and field
S received acceptance letter today in the mail. Congrats on being accepted, but that’s it.
Has anyone followed up after receiving a similar acceptance letter, which made no mention of merit or financial-aid awards?
It turns out that RPI has not received my FAFSA application, even though I submitted it well before the deadlines and other schools have already confirmed that they have received it… I guess that explains why there was no mention of financial aid in my acceptance letter.
accepted for accelerated law program >2300/3.7-3.8 and v strong ECs
awarded some merit but will be asking for more.
Congrats! Good luck.
