Class of 2020 RD

Hey y’all! I thought I’d go ahead and make a regular decision board, so we can all freak out together.

Ayyy! I’ve been waiting for someone to make an RD thread, thank you for doing so! The whole “dear god my applications are in but I still have to wait more than three months to find out” thing is starting to set in, so I feel you.

My application is in and my counselor has submitted her rec and school report and my transcripts but they still say they don’t have my counselor rec even though all of these documents are sent together. Should I have her fax them another copy?

@jran8940 the same exact thing happened to me and my counselor sent those items in 10/14. I emailed admissions 2 days ago to inquire but have not received an answer yet. I’m going to.call on Monday if I haven’t heard anything.

Listen guys the admissions office takes more than a couple of days to reply! So if you have any doubts I’d suggest you call right now! And since you guys have applied RD I’m sure it’ll be fine if you haven’t submitted all your documents yet! All the best to all of you!

I’m not actually sure what people do on these threads (for my other schools the RD threads are mostly comparing stats and stuff) but maybe we could do introductions? Because, as I said, three months is a long time, so we might as well be friendly. So hi, I’m Harper, I’m from New York, American is my first choice, and I want to do International Studies. How about everyone else? @dinolove @jran8940 @jnkam24 @Senior1098

Hey Harper! I live in India! American is something my dad is letting me apply to just to try my luck! I plan to study in India itself! Since American is my top (and only:p) college, I’ve applied there ED1! If American was your top choice why didn’t you apply there ED1? (Just curious don’t take this the wrong way) I want to do international studies too! If you’re looking at IS the best three colleges are in DC so I suggest you apply to all and apply early to at least one if possible!

@egaliteoulamort

@Senior1098 That’s cool! And that’s a perfectly fine question. It’s mostly because my parents really didn’t want me to be stuck going there if I don’t get enough financial aid for them to be happy. If money wasn’t an issue, I totally would have applied ED, because I’d love to know sooner. And I’m also applying to George Washington University, although that’s all I’m applying to in DC!

Hi all, I’m Brianna! I live in Florida and I also plan on majoring in International Studies. American isn’t my first choice, but it is a school that I am really interested in, and I would be more than happy if I end up going there. Besides American I applied to a couple of state school and a few liberal art colleges in the Northeast. I hope the next three months are not as horrendous as the past month has been!

Hi! I’m from California, and I applied for political science. I also applied to the honors program. I really liked it when I visited, and I’m so nervous for decisions to be released!

Oh don’t worry I’m sure most colleges release you of your ED agreement if you are unhappy with your financial aid package! That’s whatim planning to do if I get in with not enough FA! Anyway fingers crossed for you all and hope you guys get in somewhere! Wherever you all end up I’m sure you’ll be happy!

*what I’m *insufficient FA
GOD MY English

Hello everyone! I’m prospective CLEG major out of CT. I applied to the Three Year Scholars program in Politics, Policy, and Law in addition to the Honors Program. Anyone else interested in the PPL program?

Hi guys! American is probably my top choice. I’m planning to major in Communication, and AU’s school of communication is one of its biggest appeals for me. I love the DC location, and I really hope I can attend next year! Unfortunately I can only afford to go where I receive a lot of merit aid, so I didn’t apply ED.

I also applied to the Honors Program. I don’t expect to get in since it’s so selective, but I’m hoping I can get into one of the secondary programs with a good merit scholarship.

I’m from the Seattle area, so I haven’t been able to visit campus. If anyone else has visited, I would love to hear about their experience!

I know AU cares a lot about interest, so I did an alumni interview and one of the virtual info sessions to make up for the fact that I haven’t visited in person.

I submitted my application a couple days ago. Good luck to all!

Hi everyone! I’m Emily, and I’m from Pennsylvania! I’m a prospective International Studies major, and I hope to later attend law school as well. AU is my top choice for sure, but I applied RD for financial reasons. I also applied to the AU Honors Program, which is definitely a reach for me, but I’m hoping to be considered for one of their smaller scholarships. I wish everyone the best of luck!

Hey guys! I’m from Florida and I applied with the CLEG major. I also applied for the Honors program, PPL (3 year scholars), Global Scholars, and the Frederick Douglass Scholars programs. DC has my heart and I’m aching to hear back from AU. Best of luck to everyone!

Hey guys! I’m Lucy and I’m from North Carolina I’m interested in double majoring in communications and international studies and literally just sent in my application and honors college supplemental application! AU and UNC are my top choices, hopefully we don’t have to wait until April to hear the news. Good luck everyone!

It seems like the past couple of years admissions decisions have been released in mid-March, with special program applicants who have been accepted (like people accepted into honors) notified in early-March. While that may seem like a long time away now, it’ll hopefully come very quickly!

So only a little more than two months before we find out, everyone!! Woo!
A quick question, just to feel out everyone else’s opinions about this because I know my anxiety is getting in the way of me thinking about it accurately: do you think that the fact that I didn’t apply to the honors program will affect my chances of getting into the school?
I showed interest in other ways-- I visited, went to local info sessions, went to a chat with a current student, talked with my regional admissions rep, and all that good stuff-- but I decided that the honors program wasn’t something I really would enjoy, so I didn’t apply to it. And I have good enough stats that it would make sense for me to apply to it. So do you all think it will look bad that I didn’t try?
