Class of 2020 RD

@gonewiththeair I did!

@wilddaffodils if you don’t mind sharing it, what did they tell you at the webinar?

@gonewiththeair The directors of admission first addressed the fact that being able to make a portal doesn’t say anything about your admissions because he said they got a couples calls about that. Then they talked about how they received 19,300 applicants this year and are expecting to admit less than 30% with a class of 1700 and 25 honors students. Those who applied to the Frederick Douglass scholarship should’ve been notified. And lastly, they pointed out they haven’t made final decisions yet and are still reviewing applicants. They will start sending notifications out the 21st and there will be four types of admission decisions: Fall 2016, Spring 2016, Wailsited, and Denied. That’s all I got out of the webinar, I hope you find this helpful!

@wilddaffodils awesome! Thank you so much for sharing xx

Wow, low acceptance rate this year! American is definitely becoming a more desirable school though. Really nervous about results!!

@QuirkyClarkie @HeyItsNick I understand your frustration that someone had the audacity to violate your trust and call AU admissions for information/clarification without first seeking your approval (note the sarcasm), but it is done already and no need to keep harping on it. Stop shaming, move on, and hope for the best for everyone who is waiting to hear if they have been admitted. Consider yourself lucky that at some point in time, you were able to access the portal and see information that suggests that you were admitted. Many others were not so fortunate.

For those of you, including my D, who applied to GW as well, this is a very interesting article:

http://college.usatoday.com/2016/02/18/gw-gets-record-breaking-number-of-apps-after-tests-become-optional/

The number of applicants has gone up at both schools…

Did they release any information regarding global scholars yet?

@papaanna101 I spoke with the co-director of AU SIS-Global Scholars last week. He advised that they send out a separate “welcome” letter with your admissions decision. If you’ve been chosen for the program, you’ll learn of it at the same time as your admission decision.

@Jule821 please stop trying to pick a fight on a college application forum, it is childish

@HappyFace2018 thanks for checking!! I was going to email someone I know in admissions about how decisions are released for the honors program.

still can’t log in. Can anyone else?

@helenanca You are very welcome

@Apples1789302 No, completely blocked b

I’m just curious - how many of you are really considering AU? Like it’s your top one school?

@HeyItsNick American is my first choice! I also applied to GWU, but American is much higher up on my list. As long as I get in and get enough financial aid, I really really want to go there.

@HeyItsNick it’s my number 2 probably since getting into Pitzer College is highly improbable.

@HeyItsNick My D’s sister graduated from AU with her MBA. When we/she choose her IB private high school she was on the path of international affairs/politics. She actually learned of AU’s SIS-Global Scholars after completing a very competitive foreign affairs focus summer program at Yale just before her junior year. After researching the program, learning of the 3/4 BA/MA program (and decided on law school afterwards) she was sold. So yeah…AU’s SIS-GS program is tops for her. She applied to GW-Elliott, GU-SFS and UChicago.

AU is definitely in my top 5 but I will probably need at least $15,000/year of merit aid to attend.

@Lana22 Not picking a fight, but simply calling out those (yourself included) who felt the need to ridicule applicants who exercised their right to call AU admissions when they were not able to access the student portal. I believe the shaming, complaining, and whining about it on these posts was childish, not my calling people out about it! I will now follow my own advice and move on from this issue. Best of luck to all!

AU is probably my top choice if i get enough money
