Class of 2020 RD

@Jules821 Let me repeat what I said - I understand why the person did it and I never said anyone had to ask us for permission. It is common sense, however, which some people lack apparently, that the college would refer to their default answer - "wait for admission in a letter.’’ That was even said in the post that was telling people about the portal trick. But feel free to continue to ridicule us back - doing the same thing that you’re claiming we shouldn’t do.

American is my top choice. Last year, I didn’t do very well in school due to medical reasons, but I still finished with a 3.6 gpa, 3 ap classes, and the ib diploma. (not too bad for missing a month of school)

Wow! @HalfAButtonPress So proud of you!

@HalfAButtonPress A 3.6 GPA is nothing to be sad over especially considering your medical problems! Way to go.

portal still down?

@Apples1789302 Yup.

I can still long onto my AU email though.

Wow. Just read this entire thread. All I have to say is DON’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ! Sure, the log-in could suggest an acceptance, but remember that nothing from the university has been DIRECTLY given out to us/told to us. The kink in the system by no means indicates an acceptance, and it makes me sad that people on this thread are hyping it up. Also, why get upset at the people who called admissions? They were doing the logical thing-- going right to the source to see what the real facts are. Don’t be so quick to assume things based on what anonymous posters on CC are saying. Just wait until March 21! It’s so close-- another 8-10 days of waiting isn’t much compared to how long we’ve been waiting already.

@radgeek The kink in the system actually did reliably indicate acceptance, and it has for years. All you need to do is look back at past years threads for proof of this. Unfortunately, by alerting Admissions of the kink in the system, future applicants will not be able to use this method.

@anothermuggle In some cases, it may be indicative. But it’s unfair and simply not true to market the kink as a reliable way of indicating acceptance for all applicants that check. Post #285 explains this. Loopholes always have downsides, and obtaining information before it has been definitively distributed by AU doesn’t really rub me the right way. There’s always the possibility that this information could be untrue-- again, post #285. If it works for you, that’s great. But it just isn’t right to use the log-in as cold hard facts when referring to an admissions decision.

So i haven’t even attempted to make a portal because i didn’t know there was such a thing for american lol. I wish i did though before it crashed. So is american mailing decisions or are they going to be on the portal?

@perksofbeingdani All decisions are mailed

@anothermuggle Wait, what??? The RD decisions? Source???

@anothermuggle omg how do you know?!?!

American admissions mails all decisions, and they will begin mailing them out the week of March 21. They sent an email a couple of weeks ago with this information. To set expectations, they indicated that the mailings would be going out in a few batches and that all applicants can expect to receive their decision in the mail by March 31. Here is a snippet form the email, which came March 7:

“We will begin mailing all of our admissions decision letters for domestic applicants starting the week of March 21. The volume of applications received requires several days to process and prepare for mailing. How quickly you receive your admission decision depends largely on where you live. You can anticipate receiving an admissions decision no later than Thursday, March 31. Please know that if you applied for and are accepted to any of our 3-year degree programs, or the AU Honors Program, you will receive notification within your acceptance letter.”

In reading this email more closely, it is directed toward domestic applicants. It does not address the process of notification for international students, which may be different.

@Themclos right. I got that email but on the first read, if sounded like that person was saying that they had just mailed them early.

Haha no, I was just answering someone who asked if decisions were mailed or posted online.

did anyone else who applied get an email asking them to take a survey for people who never completed the application? I got it twice, so I called American, but they said that my application was in. I haven’t got any emails since and I’m kind of concerned now!

@Themclos I am international and I did not receive an email so it is different for internationals…I even checked my spam and there is nothing from AU!

@lizard27 no, I’m sorry I did not received that email. I got a confirmation that they received my application, but that was it. I don’t like that system because I don’t have security in knowing that my application was completed.
