@gonewiththeair Outstanding!! My D came home early from school before the mail delivery…gotta wait for a few hours :((
Has anyone that applied to the 3-year politics, policy, and law program received an acceptance yet?
Accepted and invited to the Honors program! Got the Presidential and Honors scholarships for merit. The packet arrived by mail today. (4.4 weighted / 34 ACT)
@bosDC11 wow congrats! Where do you live?
@briggs23 I have posed this question myself a couple of times and received no reply. I would think that this means that those particular letters have yet to been mailed. Still holdin’ on to hope.
@helenanca Thanks! I’m from Florida.
My D has been accepted to the SIS Global Scholars. She received no merit but received $5,500 in aid. My first post was sad face but backing out the fluff…not so bad. Awesome program!!
Congratulations to all who have gotten acceptances!!!
The Global Scholars program looks so cool! I applied to AU for poli sci but the more I read about Global Scholars the more I wish I’d applied for that and studied IR lol.
@helenanca @Leapie45 Actually, as you’ll find demonstrated by my profile picture, American University delivers notifications exclusively through past presidents riding on the backs of giant eagles and dropping the letters down the chimneys of prospective students. Truly a unique & admirable method. Unfortunately, due to environmental issues resulting in a general decrease in eagle populations and weather being too poor for eagle flight in the past few months, this is also the reason that American has taken so long to release decisions.
If you guys who have gotten your decision remember what your portal said for merit money, please share how that matched up to your decision as well!
When my son applied to be in the Class of 2011 her received $27,000 a year as a Presidential Scholarship (he declined the admission). When my daughter applied to be in the Class of 2015, she received $20,000 a year as a Presidential Scholarship (that was the year all the named scholarships went down in value). Is the Presidential Scholarship still $20,000 a year? Good luck to all as you wait for your decisions.
@gonewiththeair My D’s information on the portal (no merit) was confirmed.
@samyymad I called AU financial aid and she hinted at it “only being three years” to which I responded “ha!” My D quickly said no way to agreeing to pay $55,500 (tuition/room/board) when she has a $100,000 scholarship at Loyola-Chicago. I know I’ve said that a few times but I only have one child…so this is very eye opening for me. We are very excited to attend the Loyola Weekend for admitted students (which includes an award ceremony at the Field Museum for the students who received scholarships). Loyola awarded the scholarship before receiving any of our financials. Love that she received it based on merit and not what we could afford to pay!
Just got my acceptance today! Got into the Politics, Policy, and Law Scholars program with a CLEG major. Got some financial aid but no merit (maybe it’s coming later?) but I’m still over the moon! Go Eagles!
@briggs23 @radioactiveforks I just received my PPL scholars acceptance (Florida resident).
Congratulations to all those accepted so far! I’m still hoping that maybe the decision letter will be in my mail box tomorrow since I live relatively close to DC! I feel like I’ve shown so much interest in AU so I hope it works out! Good luck everyone!!
@radgreek I’m up in NH. Do you think that all acceptances for the programs went out today, or could it have just been staggered by region/state? I distinctly remember everything saying that we would be notified at the same time for these kind of things.
@radioactiveforks I think all special program acceptances went out last week. When you get them depends on where you live. Every other decision letter is getting sent out either today or tomorrow it seems. They all get sent out at the same time but where you live will definitely influence how quickly you get a decision.
How do you log into your AU portal? And are you finding out via your portal or acceptance letters in regular mail?
Thanks
@wendybk AU blocked the portal so we cannot access it. AU sends decisions through the mail
