I’m an international. Let the discussions begin!
Really excited/nervous for decisions to come out @___@
Me to!
Does anybody know when we’ll hear?
@starkly The notification comes in a big orange envelope (if you are accepted) in the mail around early april. There are no exact dates but it SHOULD be in the first couple days of april.
@starkly just kidding i was guestimating based on the ED release dates. just checked last year’s threads and it loooks like they are mailed out around march 20 ish.
Okay, i just received an email from pitzer; Topic : Pitzer College Portal update. It says that my candidate tab will no longer be available as they are in a committee. It also said that since i am an international my decision will be sent to my email, but if i wish to put an address in the U.S that will receive my decision i should do so before 18th of march. So i am guessing that decisions will be available around that march 18th -21st ish time as@sylvania123 . I am also guessing that they sent this to every applicant. Did anyone else receive it?
Mhm, if you are a domestic applicant it will depend on where you live when they mail it. Based on the ED pool, international applicants get their notifications by email a couple days earlier than domestic applicants. Good luck everybody, it’s crunch time now!!
I am really nervous considering the fact that Pitzer is really selective and no African was admitted last year(am from Africa), lol.
Received the same email, but the portal is not working at all right now
@uwphoto48 Yeah also experiencing it. When i first tried it was only the candidate tab, but now its not even loading.
I got the email too! It doesn’t seem to be the generic email notifying applicants only about the portal but maybe an indication that we’ve made it through to the final round of eliminations. Did anyone else have that vibe?
Portal is back up! Not reading more into the email than what it states.
@uwphoto48 @helenanca lol
Anyone mind posting some stats, just to know how the applicant’s pool looks like
Here is mine
RD International from Nigeria, Africa.
SAT: Test optional
Unweighted Rank 2/50 (school doesnt weigh rank)
Unweighted GPA 4.76/5(school doesnt weight) would have had higher GPA and maybe will have been valedictorian but in 9th grade i was in the middle rank of my class, but in tenth grade, first semester something clicked and i jumped right to 3rd rank and i maintained an upward trend between 2nd and first rank semester after semester but more on the first rank, and your 9th grade counts to being a valedictorian so i ended up 2nd not far behind the 1st ranked student(sorry for the babble)
Went to competitive elite private school (highest gpa in class is 4.79)
School doesnt offer AP or IB classes
EC’s: really high rank in student government, i had an assistant(2 yrs) , house captain(2yrs), hockey captain(3yrs), athletics captain(2 years), first team soccer member(2.5 years as first team, 2.5 year as super substitute), treasurer of community service group(2 yrs), a lot of athletics and soccer medals, internship at IBM(sort of), volunteered to teach a group of non English speakers English. And lots of in school and interschool science awards and lots and lots of athletic and soccer awards and medals
Weaknesses: huge financial aid needed, didnt interview
Strengths: strong athlete(track and field), soccer player, hockey player…( i wasn’t recruited, never knew it existed, but in my application and resume it is duly stated), EC’s(i guess), Leadership( i guess)
A lot of more stats, but cant remember the rest
Chances, anyone?
@snow30 I don’t feel like Pitzer is the place to base an applicant off of stats. I think personality/characteristic qualities matter a lot for them because of their social environment is so unique. If you’d like, we can swap essays. Of course, it will not impact our future or anything.
Here are my stats which are copy and pasted from my chance me thread.
ACT - 31
ACT Superscore - 32
Unweighted GPA - 4.00/4.00
Weighted GPA - None (My school does not have weighted GPA.)
Class Rank - 1/60 (Shared with two other students)
AP Classes - AP Micro (5)
Honors Classes - None (My school does not have honors)
Other
Ethnicity - White

Financial Aid - Yes
My school is very small, and it is extremely rare for a student to attend out-of-state competitive colleges. There are not a wide selection of classes, and there are not many AP courses available.
Recommendations - The teachers definitely know me well and said very good things about me.
Main Essay - I think it is very strong, but of course I have a huge bias. The essay is about my journey through the stock market and how losing nearly all of my profits changed my personal values.
Major: Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or Finance
Senior course load - American History, American Government, Calculus, Chemistry, Accounting I, Accounting II, Genre Literature, P.E., First Tech Challenge, Personal Learning, Finance/Investment II

@adamfromiowa Sharing essays is a nice idea! I agree, it is impossible to really say who would be admitted via statistics. Did anyone else interview? I did.
