Class of 2021 Decisions

Does anyone know if scholarship information is normally in the acceptance letter for USC? My OOS student got his acceptance letter today in the mail but no mention of scholarship and he has very high stats? He was accepted to Clemson OOS with a scholarship in January. I only ask because I was wondering if there was no chance at any scholarship money at USC if it isn’t mentioned in the acceptance letter? Thanks for any help!

Scholarship letters come out in March. If he has very high stats, he will likely get in-state tuition plus an additional $500, $2,000 or $4,000/yr (depends on GPA and test scores).

@superuncmom, My son (also OOS) applied early, so your letter might be different. When he received his acceptance letter back in December, it included a line that read, “…you will also be receiving an academic scholarship that qualifies you to pay the same in-state tuition rate as South Carolina residents.” It goes on to say he will receive “at least” that and he would hear more no later than March 2017 in a separate letter.

We are hoping for a few thousand dollars more as he might qualify for a Cooper (in-state tuition + $4,000; average of 33 ACT, 4.71 GPA) or McKissik (in-state tuition + $2,000; average 31 ACT, 4.51 GPA). I don’t know if the average stats for these scholarships stay the same each year or vary. Good luck!

Scholarship letters are out.

@STEM2017 it seems that we (or maybe your son) are applying to many of the same schools. I have seen you on the ASU (Barretts) and Cal Poly forums also. Amazing. Did you also apply to CU Boulder?

@STEM2017 in the mail?

@as1799 my daughter received an email last night advising that her award was available with a link to her portal.

@dogrunner1 I did too but my link from the email doesn’t work and I can’t find anything on my portal. Where do I look?

@as1799 He was informed via email. Go to your original application website (apply.sc.edu) then navigate your way to your letter. Good luck!

@dogrunner1 I think lots of engineering kids apply to a similar set of schools. S was waitlisted at Cal Poly so he’ll just move on from that one. He did not apply to CU Boulder. Good luck to you, too!

@STEM2017 I’m pretty oblivious but I can’t find anything on apply.sc.edu. ¡Ayudame!

You are looking for something that says view update after getting into apply.sc, I believe. The link in the new email didn’t work for my daughter, she had to go back to an old email.

@as1799 I’m having the same problem. I got the scholarship email last night but after logging on I can’t find anything either!! :((

@as1799 did you set up your account when you received your acceptance? The one that asks for your VIPID does not seem to work yet (maybe only for enrolled students?). The one that works is the one that uses your email address to log in and then your password. As @STEM2017 mentioned, it is apply.sc.edu.

@as1799 When son logged in to his original application “status check” website there was a link that said “status updated” or something like that. When he clicked that, it took him to his scholarship letter. Did you get an email? Your letter might not be available yet.

@STEM2017 @dogrunner1 I got an email. I’m using the VIPID so that explains why it’s not showing up. Since the link doesn’t work, how do I set up my account? I can’t find anything on the website

I went back to an old email, used that link, and it worked! Thanks guys.

Check old emails to find a link, that’s what my D had to do.

@as1799 I’m pretty sure you have to go back to the very original email that you received advising of your acceptance. From there (it’s been a while now, can’t really remember), I think you were able to set up an account. Do you have the original email?

I was having the same problem, but clicking an old link worked! Try that!

USC just sent an email with a new link to try for anyone that has been having trouble.
