I found an old email and I got Flinn!!! Forever to thee!!!
@as1799 congrats, us too…so exciting!!!
My DD got Flinn too!!!Going in March to see again!
For everyone accepted Pre International Business (not in Honors) I just found out that the criteria to actually matriculate into Int Business is very stringent plus they only accept a small amount of students each year. Most kids accepted pre int bus will have a different business major upon graduation.
@swimmom87 My son received an email over the weekend from the Admissions office (with a link just for him to click to view his award letter) “that after a rigorous evaluation process, my staff have identified you as an exceptional student…” basically notifying us that he did qualify for the Flinn Scholarship. My son did not apply early but rather regular admission but he did hear earlier than the expected notification date for regular admission. It did seem to me this would be his final scholarship offer - no mention of any other scholarship forthcoming. Thanks for your help!
My kid (accepted into HC and designated as a pre-IB) also received an email regarding Cooper scholarship. He will get Cooper and Lieber (stacked) but in all likelihood will not attend Univ of South Carolina, so it will open up one spot for an IB hopeful.
Wishing everyone good luck during this decision week. Hoping my SC friends post when they hear something. I’m OOS so I don’t think our letter will come until later this week. Fingers crossed everyone!
@sbgal2011 , my daughter heard early November but 2 of her friends are still waiting. Should they hear this week?
@kaylamissy Yes, they should hear this week. Admissions posted on either Instagram or Twitter that all decisions would be mailed this week. I was hoping people SC residents would hear today or tomorrow since (I assume) they will get their letters first. DS was deferred in the EA round, still haven’t heard anything.
@sbgal2011 we live in SC and my daughter’s friends did not hear today. I hope everyone hears soon , it’s not even my child waiting but I feel bad for my daughter’s friends. The waiting is the hardest part! Good luck to you!
@sbgal2011 We are in SC and still waiting to hear. Hope to hear something within the next day or 2.
@SCLADY12 I was thinking about you earlier, knowing our kids were applying for the same major at USC, plus waiting to hear from Virginia Tech this Friday I believe @lopeztlo7 is also waiting to hear from USC and VT. DS has been a total wreck this week, stress level is sky high. I can’t wait for the week to be over so we can finally figure out where he will go next year. What a long process!
@sbgal201 and @SCLADY12 , good luck this week. My daughter finally made up her mind on Monday and I think the last 6 months has been the most stressful months I have ever had with her. The stress of applying, waiting , deciding is so hard. It’s not only stressful for the student but us parents as well. I will keep my fingers crossed for you guys this week.
@sbgal2011 @SCLADY12 My daughter has already been admitted to USC in Sports and Entertainment Management. Waiting for UGA and VT this Friday. That should end the waiting game (other than UVA which is a huge stretch, but she applied because her father (a Wahoo) begged her to!. I think she is settled on USC so the stress of Friday has definitely died down. Good luck to all! I have my fingers crossed.
@SCLADY12 @kaylamissy @lopeztlo7 I just checked the mailbox and our letter was there - rejected. I can’t believe it. First choice major was Retail Management, Second Choice was Advertising. I know he didn’t have stellar stats, but I honestly thought they were good enough to get in. UWGPA 3.8, WGPS 3.95, RSAT 1100. They offered the Bridge Program but we aren’t going to do that, especially since we are OOS and he has already been accepted to two of our instate universities. We will hear from VA Tech on Friday.
UofSC was my son’s first choice school and he will be devastated. I’m not going to tell him until Friday, when we hear from Tech, which is his second choice school. He has said if he gets into VT he would go there, even if accepted at UofSC, because of instate costs, although he loves UofSC more. So I’m hoping he gets into VT so that the sting of being rejected from Carolina is softened. If he gets rejected from VT, it’s going to be a LONG weekend. At least he has two good safety schools that he was accepted to.
Best of luck to everyone, I will keep checking this thread and hope that you all get better news!
@sbgal2011 wow his Stats looked more than good enough to get in. That really stinks but here’s hoping Friday brings great news from the Commonwealth. Virginia has great state schools and I am sure he will be fine!. I am a hokie so I will do a few extra Hokie Hi’s for your son!
@kaylamissy did she pick USC? Wasn’t she bridged at Clemson as well?
@sbgal2011 So sorry to hear. I’m at work and my daughter will get the mail before I get home. She has similar stats and will probably get the same. Stats are good enough to get straight in. Not sure what is going on this year @ USC. She finally heard from College of Charleston and was accepted there. Not sure which one she will select. She did receive a good package at Presbyterian – which is where she is leaning. Wishing you good luck with Virginia Tech.
@sbgal2011 UGH, my daughter was bridged as well. She was kind of bummed. Must have something to do with Retail program #2 in the country.
@SCLADY12 I’m sorry to hear that. Did she have a second choice major? She has good options with CofC and Presbyterian. She got into Alabama as well, correct? I think what surprises me most is that DS didn’t get in at all, not even to his second choice major (Advertising). Anyway, we will see what happens with VA Tech tomorrow. He has been accepted to Ole Miss, VCU, and George Mason. and will go with Mason if he doesn’t get into VT. I will check with you tomorrow on the VT decision thread, fingers crossed!
