@scrabblemomb are you IS or OOS? Also, do you mind sharing stats? My daughter is waiting to hear something. They told her mid-December…
OOS Stats are ACT high 20’s and GPA on the higher side of 3.
@scrabblemomb What exactly was the purpose of the call? Website says they only notify acceptances through the mail. Weird that someone from admissions would call to congratulate your D on her acceptance?
The call was from a student just wanting to congratulate her on her admission and assumed that we had already received the offer of admission. I hadn’t heard about anyone else getting a call so was surprised. The envelope was in our mailbox yesterday, but looking at it this morning saw that the date was 11/18 so not sure if it was held up on their end or ours. Either way, we were just happy to get it.
@lopeztlo7 Is your daughter waiting for acceptance or scholarship?
Thanks @scrabblemomb ! And congratulations to your daughter.
I applied for restrictive early action in early October, but I thought admissions decisions weren’t being released until the week of December 12? Should I be concerned? I am an out of state student with a 1290 SAT and 4.0 UW, plus leadership qualifications at a national level and a ton of ECs.
@tjraub1011 USCar doesn’t offer restrictive EA. It’s not binding. Everyone expected decisions in December, but for some reason, they released (at least some) decisions early.
They started early this year but will continue to roll out decisions through the original time frame of mid-December. You will hear by then with either acceptance or deferral until regular decisions come out.
Both - over 1200 SAT and 3.78 GPA - She is OOS
USC Admissions posted on twitter yesterday that decisions will be mailed out later this week!
Son got in OOS. He has 4.0 weighted, 3.7 us, rsat is 1330. The letter states he will get an OOS scholarship but won’t know amount until March.
I got in OOS with an instate tuition reduction scholarship (plus more with later details coming in March). I saw on the admissions office twitter that they released some acceptances the week of 11/22, but the rest of the decisions will be mailed the week of 12/12. My weighted GPA is 4.75, I am 10/270 in my class and ACT is 30.
When folks say they got an OOS instate tuition reduction scholarship, is that different from what my son’s acceptance said, which is that he qualifies for a general university scholarship? When you look on the website, all of the general scholarships for OOS contain some measure of tuition waiver, but was there a specific statement in other OOS acceptance letters that OOS tuition would be waived, and then you get an additional scholarship?
D’s letter says she received full tuition reduction (tuition set to in-state cost) plus extra, but that amount is to be determined. She also applied for the big ones, so we’re waiting to hear back about that.

Applied to honors college and waiting for results
What do you think my chances are for honors college?? I know USC recalculates GPA very generously but I don’t know if I have a shot or not
My son last year had a 1390 SAT and 3.99 weighted and something like a 4.3 Recalc and thought he had a good chance at Honors. Had great essays and an incredible Rec. Didn’t get in Honors but got in another top program and lots of $. He needed up going to another school. I would try if I were you and sometimes it’s all abt your essays. Don’t give up hope!
One of the biggest reasons he went to another school is unless you get in Honors, you do not get automatic entry in Internatonal Biz school. The program he got in was Capstone which looked cool. Capstone use to give you auto to International Biz but they changed it a few years back. He did get admitted to another top 20 Biz school at another school and that was the game changer. Good luck
Did your daughter receive her letter today?
