Class of 2021 (Discussing application season, sharing, venting)

Thanks for sharing that, @marg928 - I’m happy for your daughter and hope she is accepted!

@Jkellynh17 my regrets are that we didn’t do CMU, Purchase &Guthrie, tho after living in WI for 18 mos I wouldn’t wish Minn winters on anyone!

@remartin67 yep that’s the problem! Hard to choose that climate over California!

@marg928 The only warm school my S auditioned for was a UNCSA. But I can’t go that cold!

I don’t think we even talked about climate, TBH. I just wish he had auditioned for more hardcore classical programs.

I feel the same. Originally I kept looking at programs where I thought my S could keep his foot in the door for MT. But now I realize he prefers straight acting.

I also wish D would have figured out that she wanted acting rather than MT earlier in the game- would have focused the list of schools a bit more.

Well if they figure out what they want to do by 25, let alone 17, they are ahead of most people. It’s never over.

2 of my daughters friends are current theatre students there and they are great kids, talented, smart and are very friendly. Great option for your D @marg928

Got my call from Pace today! I was accepted to all three acting programs, and got to select one of the three! I’m so happy!!!

Wow! I didn’t know the acceptances would be coming this week! Congrats @vshtxn!

Neither did I! That’s the crazy thing about it all! Thank you!! @marg928

@vshtxn congrats! Which did you choose?

Thank you! I chose BFA Acting.

Congrats @vshtxn! So exciting!

So you’ve decided that’s where you’re going @vshtxn ?

@marg928 Quite honestly, probably not. I was accepted into LIU Post with a $35k scholarship, so I’m highly considering them. But I’m waiting on my results from BOCO, The Hartt School, and Coastal Carolina to come back before I commit to anywhere.

When they called they made you choose one?

One of the admission members from the School of Performing Arts asked me which program I’d prefer to be in, and to let them know by the end of the day. I called back and let them know BFA Acting within 30 minutes, and the counselor had me email Wayne Petro with my decision. Then about 2 and 1/2 hours later, the head of the BFA Acting program called me to personally accept me.

My D got her scholarship award from CalArts…EXTREMELY disappointing.
