@daughtersdreams that is very odd…Pace usually has a very fast turnaround for academic acceptance.
@daughtersdreams My S also applied to Pace in September, we just received admissions acceptance notification on 2-28. I too was puzzled as he has an excellent GPA and scores…but he is applying as a transfer student to the university after a year at another college. He originally was not going to pursue theater as a career, but was not happy not being involved in theater…so this journey is underway. On a side note I spoke to admissions at Emerson today and they said decisions would be released April 1
So it looks like two different experiences at Pace with @marg928 getting a quick acceptance and @twomonkeysnme getting a delayed response. At least I know there is no “normal”. Haha. With everyone posting about Pace’s generous scholarship packages, I’m anxious to see if anything comes our way!
PS - Welcome to CC @twomonkeysnme !
@daughtersdreams you will definitely be happy with the package. My D got $21500 and that’s on the low end. Her good friend got the same but then took the ACT again in January and got a higher score and they bumped her up to $28K.
Thank you @daughtersdreams ! I have been an avid reader for months, but never posted. I so appreciate this dialogue thread. It has reassured me and given lots of great insight. The No’s are so hard, and the waiting … :-S
Long time lurker, first time poster. Thanks to everyone who shares their news, it helps. This is my second go round - my S was accepted and attended bfa acting program 2 years ago. It wasn’t a good fit so we ended with a gap year while we waited for this audition cycle. And no the waiting isn’t any easier this time, lol. Currently at 3 no, 1 yes, 2 waitlist, and waiting on 4 more. Which leads to my question. Does anyone have any experience with the U.K. Schools? When do they notify? There is very little on CC.
@bfahopeful Earlier in this thread you said your daughter got her admissions decision from the Guthrie BFA program the week after callbacks…do you remember how the notification came? Email, snail mail, phone call?
@Janine1 I believe those accepted got phone calls and others got emails.
@Janine1 --I just looked back and it was march 8 that we found out last year for Guthrie. Callbacks were feb 26 weekend. So it was a week and a few days later.
Based on that it would be early next week that decisions go out.
Got an email about an hour ago that Chapman portal is updated…we are away at a long weekend family wedding and I also just had a fight with my D so I didn’t tell her yet! You’d think she would notice she got the email though! Hopefully there will be good news!
Yes D got the same email from Chapman. She’s waitlisted but that is at least still a chance!
Congrats @sopranomtmom my daughter came off the waitlist and was offered a spot 3 years ago! Great admit!
My D is also on the waitlist at Chapman. We went into this thinking Chapman would be a much easier admit than CalArts…you never know! I was definitely one of my D’s least favorite auditions…and I know others have felt the same way.
@marg928 you are right -there is no way to predict outcomes.
Congrats on waitlist --that is an affirmation of her talent. She will land in a great spot.
This has been a discouraging journey for my D. Anyone heard from Roosevelt? She’s thinking about staying home and taking core classes at the local university for a year and then trying again if she doesn’t get in anywhere this year. I have heard of many people taking gap years. There’s lots of talent out there and it makes it difficult. Good luck everyone. Congratulations on all the acceptances.
I know how you feel @FionaBellemom my daughter was one of those who got no acceptances from auditioned programs until she came off one waitlist in April. She chose to go to her safety and is incredibly happy. Many kids take gap years and things work out great. Everyone’s path is unique, and whichever your daughter chooses is going to be what’s best for her. Hang in there.
Would taking a gap year lessen chances for good scholarship? It seems like they want to award everything to incoming freshmen straight out of high school.
Heard that UMN Guthrie made some phone calls earlier this afternoon with acceptance offers. No acceptance calls here. No rejection or waitlist news yet either. Not sure if they made all the acceptance calls today. A big congratulations to everyone out there who got good news today from UMN Guthrie!
I think there are a certain number of units you can take during your gap year that makes you still a freshman. Not sure what that is.
Something to look into. Not sure what the other option is if she doesn’t get into a program though. She’d really like to try again and include more schools next time.
