CLASS OF 2021 FROM NEPAL

@0000yo0000 Now, you must be kidding huh? At Cornell with a 1380?
Now such things give me impulse to try bigger colleges and ultimately doomed with rejections. Anyway I’m gonna try at at least some ivies.

@ANepaliOptimist Haha! See, that’s how the college application works. Nobody knows if you have a chance unless you give it a try.

@0000yo0000 I say we all here put our stats and stuffs and see our competition pool from Nepal for this year. Why don’t we do that?

This is totally inaccurate and rediculous!!
NYU sends the decisions of all campuses–NY, AD, and Shanghai-- to everyone at the same time ( Dec 15, 5pm EST).
Still 17 more hours to gooo!!

Next, no one from Trinity participated in this round of Candidate Weekend (actually, one was invited: he himself deferred to ED2).

So how come: NYUAD–Trinity ( 1) ???

So my humble request (to all): please VERIFY before posting.
And of course, ( and evidently) don’t trust everything on the CC.

@ANepaliOptimist Most applicants would rather prefer privacy.

I think applicants should share their stats after they are accepted as it provides a guidline for other students. However, it is always the applicants will.

@VMA7 I agree with you.

Most of the students want privacy. Plus every student is unique in their own way. So lets keep it like this as always.

I will agree with you if you tell me why an admitted student should not share his/ her stats. Unless he or she envies other’s progress.

its nothing about envy. Admitted students do want others to do well. Posting here the stats would result into creating a kind of benchmark for future students. Or precisely a kind of discouragement. @VMA7 I hope this clarifies your question.

@heydudekid Absolutely! Application to top colleges is not merely a bunch of SATs, GPAs and TOEFL scores. Personal qualities matter the most!

Someone with low scores may have the spark colleges are looking for; and someone with higher scores could be applicants like dime-a-dozen. (No_offence)
So comparing just the scores and predicting one’s chances is simply quixotic.

Benchmark will show students how much and what efforts they will need to get in a good school. Stats is not just about grades, we post like the report found in college threads. Some schools like rato bangla and bnks has counselor who can guide them but other colleges dont so they can rely on the information we provide. If application is more than stats then the students will see that because everyone is sharing their stats even the one’s who were accepted with low sat amd grades. But, it is always the applicants wish that matters. Who want to please do!

Each college wants a very diverse bunch. So sharing stats either creates false hopes or demoralizes applicants.

Sharing stats might give other applicants a reality check on where they stand and serve as an inspiration to improve themselves. But having said that, everything has its own upsides and downsides. All of it boils down to how we take it as an individual. Besides, there is no point in us debating about it since it depends on the applicants wish to share it.
