@ap012199 Yep, it’s my first choice, and your guess makes sense. I wasn’t sure how to interpret the email.
@JemmaSimmons I also got the email but interpreted it the same way as @ap012199. I guess we’ll know soon enough…
@sirhcgled how do you go to the calendar on MyUps?
@ap012199 go to the ‘Tracking’ section and there’s another tab that says UPS MyChoice; click there and activate that service (it’s free), and it pulls up a calendar
@sirhcgled cool… got it. No package for me, but idk if they send out packages for finalistsuntil the RD decisions are released.
@ap012199 I could’ve sworn I read that if you’re chosen as a finalist for any of the scholarships, you are also accepted early; if that’s true, you would definitely get a package if chosen. Like I said a few posts ago though, I don’t think they send them until one or two days before, so if they release friday I would guess you could see it on the MyUPS by Thursday.
@sirhcgled It’s true that if you are a finalist, you are accepted. However, I think I remember that the acceptance package still doesn’t come until everyone else gets accepted, too. That’s how people knew whether or not the mail was good; all of the scholarship people had the same notification.
@JemmaSimmons just double checked the thread and you’re right, that makes more sense too. Guess the UPS won’t help us for Friday (hopefully?) after all. Still, it’s a pretty helpful tool for later!
Do you guys know ho competitive the Mylonas and/or the Nemerov writing scholarship is? I definitely do not feel my writing was good enough to become a finalist for Nemerov (I wrote three poems the night before the due date). It kinda sucks because I indicated my major as creative writing. Will the quality of my scholarship affect admission or does admissions not even see the scholarships? I believe that the Mylonas scholarship (one of the scholarships with stipends), is super competitive too… it’s the one for humanities.
@ap012199 the Nemerov scholarship is only for 10 applicants, so that one is definitely really selective. I applied to Lien, which is the social/behavioral sciences (I’m a PoliSci major) counterpart to Mylonas; those are limited to 16 full rides w/stipends and 16 half rides. So… definitely selective… Hoping the best for us haha
@sirhcgled haha yeah even though I did Mylonas my “critical analysis” essay was about the validity of the Electoral College.
@sirhcgled, do you know how many Ervin Scholars there are and for how much $?
@Ceciliaagnes looks like Ervin is similar to the Annika Rodriguez scholarship (which I applied to) in that it doesn’t specify how many winners there are beyond “multiple full and half tuition scholarships.” I would comb through the scholarship thread from 2020 and see if anyone there posted about how many Ervin scholars there were. If anyone has more knowledge about this, feel free to chime in.
Sorry I can’t help more, good luck!
I was just looking over last year’s thread, and they were released on a Wednesday night. So maybe tomorrow?
lol anyone want to call them again tomorrow to see if it will be this week
I really hope it’s this week, and for some reason I have this gut feeling that it is. I really hope I get at least one of the 3 that I applied to… even though it’s statistically a long shot, I love WashU and without one of these scholarships it’ll be virtually impossible to attend. Sigh
Hey guys I’m starting a GroupMe! PM me if you’d like to join!
for fine arts, all applicants are automatically reviewed for a particular scholarship I think
I heard Ervin scholarship is mainly restricted to African Americans while Rodrigues is mainly for hispanics. Is this true? I thought I had a decent chance for these scholarships.
@Harryp17, it does not specify that in the application.
