Class of 2021

I noticed that the class of 2021 at CMU is 1,670, which is 111 students more than last year’s freshman class. Does anyone know if this was either intentional, or if it was simply that the yield was higher than anticipated?

Here’s the pattern for freshman classes in recent years:

2013: 1442
2014: 1474
2015: 1575
2016: 1559
2017:1,670

@psycholing This is the first year of CMU’s Computational Biology Program, the Freshman class size was 40 or something according to the staff at Orientation week in August.

Otherwise usually SCS has an enrollment of 167?

@Boidel : so that explains 40, I wonder where the other 70 came from?

@psycholing Sorry, correction, all of the additional belong to Computational Biology.
CS is around the same enrollment this year also

It was a higher yield for class of 2021.
