Any idea about Purdue admissions? Have you all received your decision letters

Depends on when you applied. ED/EA decisions are mostly out now. If you’re are an early applicant, email them to ask about your AD.

@CValle any word on Yale interviews? Stanford interviews have started in the Western region.

Anybody got in Barkely. 1st batch of RD out 2 days back.

An acquaintance got into Cornell ED, I don’t know what her stats are because I only found out through a picture on her instagram, but she went to a very selective ICSE school in 9th and 10th, scored about 97% and then switched to IB for 11th and 12th.

I haven’t received the interview call from Stanford. As per Stanford website, all interviews are completed by mid-February. Anyone from India, who didn’t receive the interview call? Is interview by Stanford selective in India?

@stanford2022 Well, Definitely Stanford offers its interviews very selectively. I think the only thing you can do is send them a touching inquiry mail and wrap your inquiry between thoughts of the day.

@stanford2022 No, interviews are not selective. Read up on Stanford’s policy to request interviews and see if you request one. Don’t make a request if they explicitly say not to.

Hi guys
I need a small advice
I applied to NYU ED … To the CAS and got in with maths/cS double major … But i only got a 20K/year scholarship … The entire undergrad will cost 1.5 cr . Do u think it is worth the huge investment .

@Blueberrylover hey!!! I’ll be applying for tandon school of engineering computer science engineering for class of 2023 ED1…what were ur stats and 9 to 11th %…??

Hey guys!
Just saw this thread and decided to share my stats here. So, here they are!

SAT 1: 1500/1600
SAT 2: Biology: 780, Chemistry: 780

ECs:
Around 40 national and international MUNs with an achievement in every one of them
15-20 national and international debates
Community Work: A local foundation for disabled children. Also, a founding member of an NGO focused on the cleanliness of the city.
3 published Research papers with the school faculty related to Chemistry and Biology
I know I don’t have a lot of ECs, but, I didn’t want to participate in the activities I didn’t enjoy. So, instead I focused on the few of the activities I was good at.

Grades:
9th and 10th: 10 CGPA(I KNOW)
11th: 95.5%(PCMB)
12th: 96% midterms

Common App essay: Honestly, I can’t rate it. It’s very close to my heart and something that I wrote after deep introspection.
LoRs: 8-9/10
Supplements: Didn’t give them much attention, so, not as good as I wanted them to be.

Institutions I’ve applied to:
Reed(EA), Columbia(ED), Dartmouth, Cornell, Brown, Emory, Skidmore, Grinnell, Union, Williams, Amherst, UMich, Carleton, and, Middlebury.

Need A LOT of financial aid.

Columbia: Deferred
Reed: Accepted, still waiting for the FA offer.

Also, a funny story, I opened my decision from Columbia as soon as it came in and read the first line and thought I got rejected after not seeing any “Congratulations!” and sensing the tone. I was shattered and went off the internet and disconnected from everyone around me to focus on my grades. So, just a week back, my best friend, who helped me throughout this process, asked me to show her the rejection letter and my whole world changed. To my surprise, I WAS NOT REJECTED, I WAS DEFERRED. It seriously was like a miracle, because Columbia is my dream school. So, I contacted the Admissions Office and sent in the other research papers that I got published. Now, thinking about it, I just can’t help but laugh at how stupid I was.

Also to clarify, Stanford interviews aren’t selective at all (As per their website but everyone highly doubts it) but all of them are done for this year. No more requests will be sent out. Penn and Yale run till next month but I haven’t received a request yet

@columbianswift Don’t take this the wrong way, you’re a highly qualified applicant who is likely to get in, however MUN is overrated as an EC for Indian applicants. About 63 percent of them have been to 5 MUN’S OR MORE and have won awards.

@Siddu2912 I get your point about MUNs being “overrated” for Indian applicants, but apart from being the only high school student ever to be a part of the Secretariat at WIMUN New York, I have organised a non-profit MUN conference with 400 delegates in my city all by myself. Also, I have not just been a participant/delegate but also chaired several of them(10-15). So, I feel confident enough to say that I have done enough to distinguish myself and make myself stand out from the crowd.

Has anyone received likely letter from Columbia or Stanford?

@columbianswift Yeah I’m sure you did. Good luck. I’m rooting for you.

@stanford2022 No likelies yet for India.

Did anyone get an interview with Columbia / Yale?
