Class of 2022 Caltech Discussion Thread

@rick78 I don’t know for sure, but I think it’s through a post on admissions.caltech.edu.

I know that pain of being International student

Potentially less than a week till EA decisions!! Good luck guys

@brazos21 , congrats on the soccer recruitment. How hard did they recruit you for soccer if you don’t mind?

any updates on the date and time of admission decision notifications, guys?? (getting really anxious…)

@rick78 not yet, should be any time now though… the tennis coach told me it’s always on a Saturday so most likely this Saturday (they usually do it before MIT) but could be the Saturday after that. Good luck!

I called Caltech, and they said they don’t have a date nailed down yet. It’s probably Caltech’s general cloak of secrecy over the release date, but if they haven’t sent a date out, I think it wouldn’t be a stretch to say the results are coming next week.

Is Caltech EA mostly for recruited athletes?

@bogeyorpar I don’t think so - recruited athletes don’t really have that much of an edge at Caltech anyways. There’s no real “recruiting”, you kinda just talk to the coach and they might recommend you to admissions but it doesn’t mean that much.

When is the decision going to be out???

Brace yourselves. The decisions are cominggggggg. https://vimeo.com/246306031

@Colaboy82 , you think they made this video in preparation for the 12/9 admission decision release? That makes sense …

Does Caltech send out a notice when decisions will be released? Last year?

The expectation is that Caltech will update portals at noon Pacific time this Saturday. I don’t think they sent my son an email last year.

Good luck to you all!

@Ynotgo Did you son enroll at Caltech? How has he enjoyed it? Did he consider MIT as well?

@brazos21 Yes, he is a frosh there now. It is a lot of work, but I think it is a good fit and he likes it. He doesn’t have as much free time as he would have elsewhere, but there are lots of quirky activities that are a good fit for him.

He applied to MIT, but wasn’t admitted. Overall I think Caltech is probably a better fit for him anyway.

2 days…excited but nervous!

Good luck!!!

Let’s start a discussion; what are you guys excited to do at Caltech if you get admitted and attend?

I would like to do research  and join technical society, what about you guys?
