Class of 2022 Decisions

@g8rmomk8ans They will normally tell you if you are awarded the instate tuition or general university scholarship when you get your acceptance but you won’t be notified about the specific scholarship awarded.

Has the portal been updated for anyone who received their letter? We are in NY and I feel like we are checking it every hour.

@gcnorth I do not think they release any decisions online or update the portal. They only send out the decisions in the mail!

I am extremely excited as I just got my acceptance packet today from USC. I got an out-of-state scholarship valuing at least $82,000 over 4 years (this waives out-of-state tuition). I really want to go to an SEC school and USC is number 2 on my list so I am thrilled.

Stats for those that may want some background:
Residency: OOS (North Carolina)
ACT: 32
GPA (unweighted): 3.92
Rank: 25/435
Activities: A few leadership positions, sports, clubs, and community service
White (Middle Eastern Descent), Male

Congrats to all who have already received their packet and good luck to everyone else who is waiting!

D got her letter today!!! So exciting. Also the letter with the mention of scholarship money, so that is great news as well. Good luck to everyone! This is her first acceptance letter AND her first choice school, so very cool.

My daughter was accepted OOS, CT
Act 32, gPa 3,9 mostly honors and 5ap
Great curriculars and demonstrated interest
Told in letter will get academic scholarship giving her at least in state tuition. Good luck everyone!

I’m really wishing D raised her ACT just another point or two–may make the difference between her getting Capstone or not, which is now the next thing we’ll stress about. I have a feeling that since she only got the “tuition reduction” money, it probably means no Capstone. :frowning: She’s got straight As so far this year with 2 more APs…anyone know if they’ll consider this year’s grades when looking at things like Capstone?

As an FYI for others my daughter received the same exact letter as Acorn4 and Wake Prospect today - we are in Maryland. Accepted with in-state tuition. She applied and was accepted to The Arnold School of Public Health for Exercise Science. ACT 31 single sitting and unweighted GPA 3.96 and I think ranking was 9/218. I’m wondering if anyone can explain how future possible Honors decisions are made and if interviewing is required for that as well as potential additional scholarships. I did not realize the Honors program was so competitive with students with such high test scores. Very impressive. Also interesting I see no update on the school’s application website despite the received letter.

My son was accepted today as well!! In State. Accepted into the Darla Moore School of Business. Letter stated he would be receiving an academic scholarship but didn’t indicate amount. I’m thinking it may just be the South Carolina Lottery scholarship - which we know he is receiving - however I’m hoping it’s in addition to that.

Congrats to all those who have received their letters today!!

My son was accepted today. OOS with scholarship bring COA down to in state, possibly lower. Final scholarship award to be released in March. Very excited!

@TerpDad888 Honors decisions are based on regular application and an additional honors information with essays. Essays are closely read so that students with strong essays may have a good chance with lower stats. But yes the honors pool is pretty high score/stat. From the Honors applicant pool, top kids are chosen to compete for top scholarship - McNair and Carolilna scholars. These invites go out after the first of year and there is required interview weekend. These are the only ones that are interviewed - less than 100 total I think.

Since the website is not the way students are informed I wouldn’t worry about not seeing anything there.

@scmom12, I had D apply to Honors when prompted even though I didn’t think she’d be competitive enough, but she’s a writer and her essays were spectacular (some of the best her college advisor has seen). I thought I saw somewhere that having a strong Honors app could help for Capstone? Any idea? Like could great essays help offset non-spectacular GPA and test scores? That is our hope!

My S18 got his acceptance today as well! He also got a scholarship offer bringing it to in state tuition level (possibly more, but won’t know until March). We are OOS (NC).

My D was accepted today:

Residency: Virginia
SAT: 1350
GPA: 4.01 weighted
Classes: 7 APs, all honors, dual enrollment
Extra curriculars: Key club, National Honors Society, Thespian Society, Drama Club Historian,
Intended major: undecided
Hooks: none

offered scholarship of at least $39k over 4 years. Will know exact amount by March 2018. Was hoping to get the in state tuition rate.

Good Luck to everyone!

I haven’t heard yet and I am freaking out! I am in Michigan so I am hoping the distance may have something to do with it;)

Same here, @pbmcdoug. I’m in FL and waiting nervously!! [-O<

The best of luck to all else waiting!!! I so did not expect it this soon!

My daughter was accepted today! Out of state with in-state tuition. We wait on the Honors College now.

Honors is a holistic review. We know of kids with ACT scores around 29 who made it in and those with higher scores who did not. They review the essays and ECs heavily. The top 50 OOS are invited for the Top Scholars where they are interviewed.

DD received her letter of acceptance today. OOS- Texas…
