When I applied to NU I selected on my application that I would be “open to considering” being in the N.U in program. Does that mean if I get accepted to the N.U in program that I have to go (I applied EA)? I am very worried as I would rather not travel my first semester and would rather live on campus.
That would have been nice to know when applying. On the common app there were three options for the N.U in program: “it is my first choice for admissions”, something like “it doesn’t matter to me”, and “I would be open to considering” it. I clicked the 3rd option, so I’m hoping that if I get in that I don’t get selected for it.
S was deferred. OOS, 35 ACT, 800s on physics and math2’s, top 4% of his class. Challenging coursework throughout HS. Solid ecs. He thought of Northeastern as a safety - goes to show you no school is a safety.
I got in! 1430 on my SAT, Editor-in-Chief of my student newspaper w/ a lot of awards, 3.9 GPA. Applied as an EA applicant. History major. I think I may have gotten in because I am from Los Angeles and I heard BU and NEU do not get a lot of applicants from this region. Also my common app essay was really good and I visited. I just made an account to post this comment haha so let me know if I missed anything.
got into COS & honors program- 33ACT 98 GPA, good EC’s (in my own biased opinion haha). really excited but hope i can afford it! good luck to everyone who got deferred, especially if you thought you were a solid in–i know what it feels like because before this i got deferred from some schools i thought i was a “perfect fit” for. the whole thing is completely arbitrary it seems!

@Collegemom1004 Early RD decisions came out last month for topmost applicants. The rest will likely come out the week of 3/12. Applicants will receive an email link to their online decision followed by a mailing.
Based on previous years’ threads, I would say that it is guaranteed for decisions to start being released between Thursday, March 15, 2018 to Saturday, March 17, 2018. Just 12-14 days of waiting guys! We got this
Think of it as waiting on the line to Chic-Fil-A’s drive-thru window. Once you get there, you know that you’ll be able to taste that wholesome and tender goodness (hopefully)
