Does this mean they’re unlikely to go to waitlist?
Yes – Bowdoin probably will not be going to the waitlist since a class of 525 is 25 more than the target number. .
They mentioned in the article they expect many students to leave for gap years or after getting off other schools’ waitlists.
They said typically they lose 25 during the summer. So unless they lose more than average, they won’t be going to the wait list.

I think it can be, especially if an outstanding applicant is an URM. Maine is very white, and Bowdoin’s somewhat remote location doesn’t help with its efforts to build a racially diverse class.
