Class of 2022 RD Discussion Thread

Ohhh, I see. Thanks, @JemmaSimmons !

Anyone know when decisions have come out in previous years?

last year decisions were posted by March 1st which was exactly four weeks before their scholarship weekend so fingers crossed ours works out the same way and comes out by February 22nd!

Hopefully everybody is finished with their scholarship applications and had an alumni interview. 2nd semester at WashU is starting up this coming Tuesday and my son is looking forward to classes and seeing snow. And I think he might be missing his friends texting him at 2:00 AM asking him about Calculus and Chemistry!

I would definitely advise students to visit in February if you haven’t done so.

does anyone know how we would send updates to our application? is there a specific email i can send it to?

@colorfulhuman When I sent updates, I sent it to my region’s admissions counselor, which you should be able to find on the WashU admissions webpage.

curious what your career plans are with a philosophy major.

does anyone know how much Wash U cares about legacy? both my father and my grandfather attended wash u

How much does legacy count?

Legacy does help-my son knows at least 3 kids from his class who are multiple legacy through parents/siblings. And there are several posters in the various WashU threads who are alumni with kids in the Class of 2022.

WashU connections through employees/faculty are helpful too. In the Class of 2021 there are at least 2 professors kids and a dean’s kid according to my son-he met them on a WashU visit and said that they were pretty nice. They mentioned that their parents worked at WashU but he didn’t find out that they were faculty kids until he checked. They had unique last names that matched up with the list of faculty.

And apparently Holden Thorpe’s (current WashU provost) daughter was in the Class of 2021 but took a gap year and will be in the Class of 2022.

what if application is submitted after Dec 8, and there was no opportunity for alumni interview, will this affect admission decision?

@collegecrazy432 Many of my fellow WU alumni have children who have attended/currently attend WU. My son will be a member of the Class of 2022.

I was encouraged my several alumni to have my son apply ED if WU was his first choice as legacy helps. On the same note, we were encouraged to visit and show interest.

Does anyone know the percent of accepted applicants who receive some form of merit aid?

Glad to hear of many legacy advantages. My D has a friend from her high school who also applied ED and was also deferred. However, this friend currently has a sister who is a sophomore at Wash U. We were surprised.

Any word on the decision date? And I’m guessing we hear through the portal?

Not sure that’s out yet, but last year RD decisions came out on 3/15/17 @ 4:30p Central Time see link to that discussion below:

@billybobby54 If my memory serves, the decision dates usually aren’t released until the day of or the day before.

I had my interview today! Just to let y’all know, I requested an interview too late so I was not scheduled for one. But I showed up at my area’s interview location anyways and so many people skipped their interview so they fit me right in! I definitely recommend doing the same if you are in the same situation I was.

@mickey46 glad that my advice worked and that you got an interview. Sounds like it went well.

@mickey46 wait how do you request one? I thought you just had to apply early
