Smith legacy admits for 2022 = 251 students: that’s 40% of the incoming class (of 625 total). That’s a surprising statistic. Are legacy admits required to meet the same academic criteria? Do legacies typically apply ED?
@momofthreenyc While I can’t speak to Smith in particular, my general understanding is that selective LACs generally only confer some sort of legacy benefit to those legacies who apply ED. What that legacy benefit is, I don’t know. It wouldn’t surprise me if the legacy class had better academic scores than the class as a whole as ED generally (meaning, across the country) appears to have become a way to maximize their yield while keeping their test scores high. For what it’s worth, last year, they admitted less than 32% of all applicants compared to 54% of their ED class.
@momofthreenyc, 251of the 5780 first-year applicants are legacies. In other words, 4.3% of the women who applied are legacies.

Bumping this thread. Anyone seen admission stats for the class of 2022 yet? CDS isn’t out.
