Hi all,
I just got rejected from UCR even though I submitted TAG for it. I applied to Davis, UCLA, and UC Berkeley (parents forced me to apply to the latter two) as well as CPP Cal Poly SLO and SJSU. I don’t know how I got rejected from UCR bc my gpa met the requirements. I’m really worried I’m not going to get into the other universities. I got into SJSU and CPP but no Uc’s yet. I’m not sure if I should appeal for UC Riverside bc it might be an error. I was rejected as a senior in high school for 8/8 universities I applied to and I’m a little sad that it might happen again. I wanted to at least get into a UC. uC Davis is my dream school but it doesn’t look promising now. Is there any hope for me for the remaining schools?
Besides the GPA requirement, did you meet the specific course requirements by the stated deadline?
I would contact UCR admissions and find out why your TAG was not accepted.
As i understand it, the TAG is kind of a contract where you submit your planned course work in advance - then the UC accepts your plan - the you take the classes and get the grades and you are in. I suspect you missed a class or changed a course without advising them.
At this point, I would enroll at CPP (or SJ if thats your preference) and be done with it. There is no special secret UCs pass along that’s not included in the CSU curriculum. Both offer credible degrees and send thousands of well qualified graduates into the workforce every year.
It wouldn’t hurt to contact UCR and see why they rejected you.
It looks like they take tranfers in Winter quartet so, if you are hell bent on going, you can probably take the class you need and that’s not too long to wait - though, as i said, the CSU is probably your best path forward.
Out of curiosity, what’s your major and GPA?
You must meet all of these requirements to TAG UCR:
- Meet the required GPA for your major.
- Complete your major preparation courses (via ASSIST.org) by spring 2020.
- Complete English 1 by fall 2019 and English 2 by spring 2020.
- Complete required math preparation for STEM majors or one UC-transferable math course by fall 2019.
- Transfer from a california community college (CCC) with 60 semester (90 quarter) transferable units by spring 2020. (More than half of your units must be completed at a CCC)
- Submit TAG application and UCR application on time.
I’m sorry that your TAG was rejected, I think it’s kinda BS. I would absolutely try to figure out why and then appeal as best I could.
@seulgi419 obviously something was not fulfilled, whether it be English courses, units, major req, GPA minimums for both TAG and possibly major, misapplication of AP credit, the major excluded from TAG, not completing English and math by the deadline. You should email/call the TAG office and ask.
