@STEM2017 Thank you so much for responding. I’m going to try to relax now. LOL
Same changes for DD as well - no major, just Freshman, and change your major link is back… She received her “application under review” letter on Nov. 21… So much speculating LOL!
@lexluthor5 My daughter’s dates are 10/23 and 11/22, respectively, but her portal is still not showing any changes. In this case, I think that not hearing is better than hearing as there have been a lot of deferrals lately. I suspect that the school has a target number of nursing freshmen and knows how many they want to accept before the holidays. They automatically accept anyone with off-the-chart statistics or part of a preference group and defer/reject anyone below their internal targets. They collect the rest of the applicants and decide who to move ahead with on the final Friday (12/14) before the holiday break. That’s my theory anyway.
@jdcollegedad who knows, i guess their portal changes make it more fun to speculate. Our daughter doesn’t have top of class stats, but we think her odds are very good. Approx 3.6-3.7 weighted GPA/32 ACT. Hopefully will hear something this or next week yet. She has a couple of nice acceptances on the board so far and 2 or 3 more decisions should be coming next week.
Is anyone else applying for the Insect Ecology and Conservation major? My daughter has wanted to be an entomologist since she was little. Very few schools offer an undergraduate major in this field. She can minor in Entomology at Penn State, but I was just curious how many applicants they get for this. I haven’t seen any mention of it since I’ve been following these posts.
@lexluthor5 Fingers crossed for your daughter’s acceptance. My daughter has a 1430 SAT, 4.1 WGPA, top 10% rank, 10 AP classes, certified EMT, internships at a local hospital, tons of EC/leadership, accepted OOS to Binghamton nursing with a decent merit scholarship. I would be surprised if she didn’t get in, but anything is possible with a competitive major.
Hi SPPMOM19 - my daughter submitted things later…11/22. Hers also says Freshman with her major listed underneath. I’m guessing she won’t hear for a while since she submitted later than others on this post.
@Raam1012 - have you heard anything about merit? Son was also accepted weeks ago and still waiting on merit offer. Got an email last week saying something would be available soon - but haven’t seen anything on portal.
Does Honors Program notification come at the same time as acceptance? Thank you.
@iamamom3 - nothing yet for merit. I’ve heard mixed things on this thread - some have heard, some have seen it on portal and then it disappears. I thought someone posted that they called to inquire and information provided was that financial information would be released in Jan/Feb - but I can’t find the post so maybe I’m confusing it with something else…or I made it up - not sure at this point. :-/
It’s always been on my daughter’s page. Accepted, Honors College Acceptance and World Scholar notification but no word on merit yet.
Got a snail mail big envelope yesterday with merit and financial aid info. Ours was posted on portal. Then taken off. Very strange. Everything seems so random…
Are all of these ED? My son applied priority… what does that mean and when do we hear back?
@oreomollykona - you are the first to post financial package arrived in mail. Maybe we will get ours in mail only since we never saw it on portal and accepted notification on 11/2
@sfruhling I am not aware of any ED/priority application opportunities, rolling only. My DS1 is a UD junior. Also website shows apps open 8/1 and close 1/15. Would be interested to know what ‘priority’ is.
@opallady My DS1 is a UD junior. When he applied, some Honors were offered in acceptance letter, some were offered later. They have to manage the numbers because the Honors class is limited by the Redding dorm capacity. We have not recieved DS2’s notice yet, so I can’t speak to this year’s protocol.
I think “priority” refers to if a student submits their application by Nov. 1, then the decisions are “rolling” but UDel doesn’t have any Early Action or Early Decision.
For those looking for aid info, my daughter was admitted the first week of November, the merit/aid info appeared online maybe last week, and just today (one month after admittance), a nice folder arrived in them mail, with the same info that is online.
I know it’s hard to wait, but I suggest being patient. I’ll repeat a comment I made last week: For the 2016 applicant pool, my son essentially applied Jan 2 (submitted over winter break) and heard back in a month. Some others we know applied in Oct and heard in March. I know of a similar situation with a 2018 applicant. If the student’s stats make them a reach, you may be waiting a while to hear back. And conversely, if above average, they may be accepted faster.
Check your portal, those of you had their major disappear!!
