Class of 2023 Admissions Decisions / Discussion - University of Delaware

I’m pretty sure yes, I know someone who called Admissions a week ago and they said they’re still taking applications

Does anyone know if applying as Undeclared gives you a better chance than any other major?

How long does it take to hear back about financial aid??

If rejected can you appeal and what are the chances of being accepted

@verybusy61 You can, I did after I wasnt accepted into main campus and they just admitted me into main campus but I have to take required summer semester. Here’s the link man, good luck https://apply.udel.edu/register/admissionsappeal

Does anyone know if Delaware has Business Undecided or do you just choose Undeclared? My D wants business but is not sure what to focus on at this time.

@kknorman
I’m pretty sure there is business undecided.

@mikeboliver Thank you. I didn’t see that option on their website.

@kknorman
Seriously? I just went to their admitted students day (I was accepted to Lerner college as a Finance major) but I got in my folder a pamphlet that was titled as “Business Undeclared” as a major so I don’t know how it’s not listed. If there is a way to send a picture on this forum I can send you a picture of the pamphlet if you want.

@kknorman Here is a link to this information

What kind of information did you include? and what’s the summer semester?

Did anyone just get a text about a possible spot on the waitlist

My daughter was notified on 4/28 on her acceptance thru her portal from the waitlist.

Does the University of Delaware still require the ACT/SAT writing portion to be submitted as part of a students application?

@H0llyw00d A quick look at the Common App shows: “SAT w/o Essay or ACT w/o Essay”

If you look at the Common Data Set for UDel, this is how they use the SAT and ACT Essay - section C8. https://cpb-us-w2.wpmucdn.com/sites.udel.edu/dist/e/2019/files/2019/05/CDS1819_UDelaware-051019-1.pdf

It is very confusing as it is NOT consistent with the admissions website.

@opallady Maybe the admissions website has been updated with the new requirements. The CDS reflects last year. Lots of schools are abandoning the writing portion of the SAT/ACT. Lots.

S19 will attend UDel as a Eugene du Pont scholar and did not take the writing portion of either the SAT or ACT.

Given most schools are abandoning the writing portion, it seems unusual that UDel would be adding it in as a factor. Also when it discusses using the essay portion for placement, that doesn’t make sense since they make everyone take freshman comp regardless of AP score or DE credit. (S19 will take Freshman Comp despite a 5 on AP Lang and credit for DE Eng Comp I/II.)

I would contact admissions and ask directly about the CDS info. We have always found UDel admissions to be very helpful!

@bigmacbeth, my daughter, is a rising junior, so we started chatting about what colleges she may be interested in exploring. From what I could tell, of the 15 schools that came up in conversation, Delaware was the ONLY school that appeared to require the writing portion, but the website did not provide any info, so I thought I’d inquire.
