Class of 2023 Admissions Decisions / Discussion - University of Delaware

Merit is released 2 weeks after you receive a decision

I didn’t apply for honors but I wish I did, i kinda regret not trying

Ok, thank you, my son has similar stats, just wondering what his chances are

Any Merit information yet?

no problem. good luck to him! When i went they said honors program SAT was 1380-1440, so i didn’t think i would get in.

He’s on the borderline, 29 ACT composite, 30 superscore, but as I understand it UD only superstores the SAT.

If I am reading the Delaware website right there are two types of merit awards available to students accepted into the honors program: 1) merit scholarships that seem primarily tied to specific SAT scores and 2) Distinguished scholar awards that students are contacted about in February. Does anyone know if the later requires an application/essays? And do the regular merit scholarship amounts get confirmed earlier?

@NJMom18 - I followed last year’s threads. Regular merit notification comes out before Distinguished Scholars weekend invite notification. I think your general application is used as the basis for that invite. I believe @burghdad had a D18 receive an invite and award. Hopefully he can chime in with greater insight.

Admitted!!

Quick question- does anyone know about UDel’s world scholars program? I was accepted to the University of Delaware on 11/9 and my portal just updated to say that I’ve been selected as a candidate for this program. What does it mean to be selected as a candidate and is this program recommended?

My daughter got the invitation as well. She received an email that explained it - check your email if you haven’t, it tells you about it. Here is the paragraph that explains what it is: What is the World Scholars Program?
World Scholars is a four-year program for internationalizing your major and it starts the first semester of your first year. As a World Scholar, you’ll begin your college career in Greece, Italy, Spain or New Zealand. You’ll spend your first semester exploring a new country and studying at a university selected for its academics, small class sizes and professors who use the city—Athens, Rome, Madrid or Auckland—as a site for active learning.
After your first semester abroad, you’ll arrive in Delaware and jump right into UD campus life. From there, your global engagement continues, both on-campus and abroad, including a second study abroad experience your junior year. Senior year, Scholars network with global professionals, apply for Fulbright awards and participate in a spring symposium.

Do we think they’ll release decisions this Friday even though it’s a holiday weekend?

@College2001 - not sure but S19’s major disappeared! Wondering if they will release some decisions early this week due to the holiday? So exciting!!!

I’m wondering about this week too. If anything, I think it would be early in the week
