Can we use this discussion thread to let others know when EA decisions start being distributed?
Sorry @mommamo1, UF does not do EA. Everyone finds out their decision on the same day in mid-February.
From the UF website: Admissions decisions will be made for applicants with complete applications and all admission materials received. Decisions for freshmen who applied by November 1 will be available in mid-February. You can view your decision by clicking the Check Application Status button. An official written notification of acceptance is mailed to admitted students only. Non-admitted students are notified through our online notification process.
@fl1234 Thank you!! I do understand that the expected Admission Decision Notification for those meeting the 11/1 deadline is 2/9, according to the website. However, I do also see that other schools with 2 deadlines have been known to release some decisions in November, no matter what they state on their website. Wanted to track if any decisions came out for UF applicants prior to that 2/9 date.
My son went through this process last year and I have followed the process for several year before that and I do not believe that anyone finds out early.
@mommamo1 All applicants who meet the November 1st or 15th (hurricane affected counties) deadlines will find out en masse on Feb. 9. That’s just the way the UF does it. You can hope or beg or pray for the decisions to come out earlier, but they won’t. Good luck to your applicant!
Thanks to both of you for the information. Just asking since so many other schools appear to release some decisions earlier than their projected date. Not pushing or complaining, just wondering!
And, then they are very strategic about when they post the results online. It is a Friday afternoon after the close of business. That gives people 2+ days to cool off before they can call Admissions. :">
@GatorDad305 February 8 not 9
@GatorDad305 February 8 not 9
It’s always the 2nd Friday in February.
UF admissions post the results online (at 6pm eastern, I think), the actually letters of acceptance will not arrive until a few weeks later (which drives folks crazy). Sometimes you can see your results up to an hour early. Sometimes the website crashes…
*Some folks may NOT find out on 2/9. If the student has earned an AA, while in high school (via duel enrollment), and they are not accepted during the normal freshman admissions process, their application is forwarded to the individual college (an engineering student application is sent to the college of engineering, a history major to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, etc.). The college would then evaluate the student as a “transfer” student. This gives the student two chances at admissions. These students usually find out if they are accepted anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks after the normal freshman admissions decisions are made.
Not many students have earn their AA, while in HS, so this is a very small group.*
hey guys, just submitted my SSAR and SAT scores today and its just a waiting game now and i’m so scared
Anyone hear anything about number of apps received? Bunch of schools last year (and I’m starting to see a few this round) had a big bump in applicants. Great news for colleges, not so much for kids waiting to hear.
Last year they didn’t release those numbers until February
@FLBeachBaby thanks. Maybe it’s just as well - not much my D can do about #/quality of applicants, so won’t add that to worry list.
Does anybody know if there is a certain GPA you must be over to have a chance at being accepted?
Here are the stats for the class of 2022 - while UF reviews applications with a holistic approach, they certainly have thresholds:
Of admitted students, the average high school weighted GPA is 4.4. The middle 50 percent GPA span is 4.2 to 4.6. The average SAT score is 1364, with the middle 50 percent span between 1300 and 1440, and the average ACT score is 30 with the middle 50 percent span between 29 and 33.
I’m fortunate to have been accepted but I’m still waiting on other colleges before making my final decision. One question that looms at this point is admission to the honors college. Apparently in previous years I would have gained automatic admission but they are changing that now.
@luska19 how do you know you were admitted when decisions do not come out til February?
is it too late to apply to UF??
@stress23 Yes
