I know of two boys getting “yes” from Montclair.
Are the “yeses” from Montclair via email, portal, phone call or snail mail?
@stagedoormama Is the “dreaded letter” and email or snail mail!
@Jpkcmo Is it Ithaca portal that shows “interested”. Where on the portal do you see that - on the App Checklist?
Yes, the Ithaca portal. When he clicks on profile, it show Interested under his picture. I read from prior years on the Ithaca thread that the portal will change on the main page from “You have applied to BFA Musical Theater” to “Congratulatiobns, You have been accepted to [program name]”
@32barMom - In years past it has been snail mail. But looks like someone previously got it via email, so not sure how they are approaching it this year.
@Jpkcmo - It says “Interested” for us too!
To clarify, Interested means the student is interested in the school, not the school is interested in the student (yet). Its said interested since he created his profile so it’s not really a status update
@JPKcmo - it changes to green “accepted”. There is a way under IC PEERS to search who has been accepted into MT - I only see one so far, but not everyone signs up for IC PEERS
Yes, I think you and I have seen the same kid accepted. His bio says he’s in vocal performance.
My D and I went to her audition at UNCG yesterday. They have a well-known acting program, but they have brought in Dominick Amendum, artist in residence, music director, to start their MT program. They are accepting 14 BFA Acting and 6 BFA MT students. They indicated everyone should hear by March 15, give or take a day!
anyone know what ‘deferred decision’ means for Penn State?
@debolution, it’s the equivalent of a wait list. Not a no but not a yes either - we’re still in the mode of celebrating “not a no” as we wait for the first yes!
Deferred decision is not a waitlist at Penn State. Other than 1 or 2 kids that get accepted immediately the rest get deferred decision. That means you are still in the pool of candidates being considered.
We were at UNCG yesterday too. My daughter loved the faculty!!!
Pulling for your S or D @MTBackstagemom! Hope that first yes comes in SOON!
@CaMom13 , thank you! My D is handling better than mom! If I had it to do over again I would definitely encourage some early notifiers in the mix - she’s auditioned for 18 and only heard 3 responses, they are just all no!
@MTBackstagemom I agree for any parents in Class of 2024 and beyond, having some early answers has helped. D is still waiting on 18 responses, including her top 5, but she has 6 yes already and has already envisioned herself at all except 1 - waiting to see who will offer the best financial package as well.
Well @MTBackstagemom last year I was in your shoes and by the time her first Yes came through I had already booked her spring break trip to visit her BA accepted colleges. She had great BA backups but it was a sad time… until her BFA yes came through and then we were walking on clouds. ITA with you about the early notifiers and EA applications - we just didn’t know! Start a new hobby, exercise a lot, throw a party, reorganize your closet - do whatever it takes to get your mind off the decisions and get you through the next 5 weeks!!!
The latest: this should get exciting in the next few weeks! But be prepared to go all the way to April 1st.
Note: as it gets closer to the date, schools often post on their social media accounts when they’re notifying (the ones that notify all students on the same day.) Or once mass notifications start the news flies through the kids’ social media groups.
• Ithaca - kids’ FB reports that decisions are imminent in the next few days. Other posters report that the portal may go down before a “no” letter via email.
