Class of 2023 MT Artistic Acceptance Notifications: How/When/Where

For those of you waiting for UMich, at my son’s audition there on 2/20 (the last audition date), they said it would be 2 weeks and that they call. I believe they post to the portal as well.

D just got the redirect email from BSU and invited to re-audition after one semester. She said no.

@afterp89 - same here

@afterp89 @crc500 S got the same today too from Ball State.

anyone heard from Drake yet?

@afterp89 @crc500 @lithpool Same here - redirect for Ball State

@crc500 We haven’t heard anything from Drake since the thank you for submitting your application message on Cappex.

@afterp89 @crc500 @lithpool @32barMom Same as well.

@afterp89 @crc500 @lithpool @32barMom @typhanileigh And my D will make 6 with the Ball State redirect. I’ve heard many say Ball State’s redirect in particular is a decent option compared to some other schools since they let you re-audition. Thoughts?

@NewToThis13 If we were closer to Indiana and my D didn’t have better options I would consider it. Would need to find out how many get in after that 1st semester. It’s a good program and they offered a good academic scholarship.

@NewToThis13 The Theatre Creation Option is a BA - it was previously know as the Theatre Studies Option but was renamed this year. The department is strong, the faculty is great and TCO’s can audition for shows - having said that, the majority of the roles in the shows go to Musical Theatre and Acting BFA students. I think you can check out the curriculum on the website. There are also folks who can chat with you about it - My D’s housemate is a senior TSO and has been in at least three productions, had her plays produced and is an award-winning dramaturg. She would be a great resource if you are interested in her experience as a BA. We are huge fans of BSU.

@afterp89 Good to hear. Of all the schools we’ve heard from academically, Ball State’s academic award for D put it under $20K total which is by far and away the cheapest so far.

Note - there’s a cross-reference list by date for those who self identify as "date anxiety "sufferers on p. 18 of this thread. Thanks @CaMom13

If you reply to someone about a school, please mention the name of the school in your post - this thread moves pretty fast so the original post could be pages back!

For anyone wondering, I just got my email from Viterbo. I got in for BFA MT!!

@musicman970 congratulations!

Anyone know where in the portal Michigan puts the decision? I was checking to see if they sent out their “for sure” rejections early (lol) and didn’t even see a place for rejection. Even when I clicked on admission status it just says “application term (fall 2019) career (SMTD) and program (MT)” underneath it but nothing about actual admission status. Is there a separate portal for the artistic decisions?

For Rider - My D’s portal just changed (to yes!) a couple minutes ago.

@MThopeful99 U of Michigan will likely notify by March 8. They will call accepted students and update the others by portal or email. Last year the accepted students were called starting February 28.

@MThopeful99 Can’t remember where, but I read somewhere that a new link option will pop up for U-M under ADMISSION APPLICATION STATUS when they have made a decision. In addition to the View Application Data and View Credentials options, it will show a new link option that says something about “Decision”

@BrennaK That’s SUPER!!! YAY!!! Congrats :slight_smile:
