Class of 2023 MT Artistic Acceptance Notifications: How/When/Where

Hi all. Any thoughts on this? … My son’s application is incomplete at a school that’s rolling already (still waiting on SAT and transcript that were requested just over a week ago). He had a very good walk-in audition at NY unifieds, and has since had two conversations with the head of the program. Since leaving New York, we have traveled almost nonstop (OKC, Chicago, Shenandoah, etc). Because of this, we neglected to request the SAT and transcript until last Monday. Any idea how schools that roll handle that? In other words, will they pass over a student who they otherwise would have taken because the application isn’t yet complete? I suggested to my son that he send an email letting the head of the program know that the things are on their way, but he doesn’t want to (imagine that … a teenager not doing what his parents suggest). Thanks!

This just in:

• Rider is updating their portal, people!
• Anyone have info on Roosevelt’s process for @pegski?
@NewToThis13 added Missouri St.
@LIMTMom - Emerson info is from first hand experience last year. All schools are supposed to notify by April 1, so first week of April sounds late (unless it’s the 1st!). Anyone have more info? Added Catholic rolling.
• Anyone have more info on Montclair’s process? Is it rolling or maybe it rolls after a certain date?
@lojsmo @MTVTmom and others, thanks for sweeping through and updating!
@boola boola - sounds about right for CMU - I think we’ll hear about the date (and the after midnight update is so dramatic!) as the time approaches.
@toowonderful - NYU is 4/1 at the latest, usually a little before, but always one of the last to notify.

This list will firm up as we get closer. Word of notifications going out often sweeps through twitter and other social media from the departments themselves when they know their dates or when they start notifying. Stay tuned!

Latest: for new edits, feel free to copy this list, add your comments and re-post. We’ll try to keep the big list as current as possible.

Anyone know about Otterbein?

@peacemama they still have one more on-campus audition day (this weekend) and I think they don’t notify until they’ve seen everyone…but I’m not sure of the date they release their info. It would make sense sometime in March?

*Just heard from Temple today (added to list)

just a quick FYI - I do not think that Carnegie phoned anyone last year.

@lovetoact Congrats!

S heard from UAB on 2/8 via email, but not sure if that’s ‘the norm’.

@beachymom thx - in the next update I’ll revise CMU back to to say email notification (no phone calls) for accepted students. That’s what I had at first and then someone mentioned phone calls.

@peacemama @LIMTMom - I’ll add Otterbein to the list and we’ll update when we hear more

@lithpool - I’ll add UAB 2/8 via - maybe it’s rolling - anyone know?

My D will be at Otterbein Saturday and BW on Sunday - I’ll let you know if we hear anything new on decisions.

My D received a no from Shenandoah today, Feb. 12.

@2019wolves. I’m sorry to hear about your D’s no. Did she receive it by email? When did she audition? I thought Shenandoah gave all results at the same time.

@onepercentmom She received an email today, and she just auditioned on campus this past Saturday. We were told that no one would hear anything until after their auditions were complete at the end of the month. So we were very surprised and saddened to receive this news only 3 days after her audition.

@2019wolves I’m so sorry that she received this news. My S has received 4 rejections so far, it’s tough that they have to go through this rejection, but it is not personal.

@2019wolves I’m also very sorry to hear about your daughter’s news from Shenandoah. We were there Saturday as well, and heard the same thing you did about the timing of decisions. It doesn’t make sense. But this is a very strange process. Just look at threads from years past, where students were rejected by some “second-tier schools” and admitted to a top program. You just can’t figure this thing out.

My son has been rejected by Elon and Penn State. No admits yet. He’s had auditors go absolutely gaga over him, and yet he’s gotten nothing from them while others have already been admitted. While we were at OCU, I had a long conversation with a freshman in the MT program. She had auditioned for 23 programs last year. She said that one of the hardest parts of this process was receiving rejections while she was still auditioning. In the end, she was admitted to OCU and Emerson. She is so happy now, and believes the process made her stronger.

For the most part, it appears that the ultra competitive schools (and many others) give offers later in the process. There are exceptions (CCM comes to mind), and frankly there are some kids who are so spectacular that even a top school that “never” admits anyone before late March will make an offer almost immediately. I think this, and the long odds inherent in the process, make it more likely to receive early rejections, and for offers to come later.

So, I’m just telling my son (and myself) to stay the course and believe that the right school will want him. He has Michigan and USC this weekend, and frankly I’m expecting a CCM rejection on Friday while he’s in Ann Arbor. It wouldn’t surprise me if he gets some other rejections before then. But I’m the designated cheerleader, so I’ll do my best to keep him confident. I wish your daughter all the best!

Does anyone have any information on Millikan decisions for off-campus auditions? My understanding is that students who auditioned on campus were notified almost immediately. It’s going on 2 weeks since my son’s Millikan audition in Chicago.

Carnegie notified on 3/12 last year via getacceptd.

What about Belmont? We were there on Saturday and they said March 1 via snail mail. Can anyone confirm that?

@2019wolves- My D also received her first “no” from Shenandoah yesterday. If it helps your “D,” when we were auditioning on campus a couple weeks ago, the director of recruitment stated they would be “releasing” the students they were no longer considering in mid-February, so we expected to hear she was either still being considered or was being “released” from consideration at some point this week or next. They did say final decisions (for those still under consideration) wouldn’t be until March. I hope this helps your D.
