@MAPAone Thanks for the update on your daughterâs nursing acceptances. Congrats on Worcester, Fitschburg and Quinnipiac. Nice merit at Quinnipiac!
@debbdowner Congratulations on the continued acceptances of your daughter at Jacksonville, Long Island University and Jefferson.Looks like the news on the favorites you mentioned are still pending so let us know when you hear. Nice merit at a couple as well
@Bonchien Way to go to your daughter on the Point Loma admit with merit. Great start. Is it in the running for a favorite?
@Charliesch - Thanks for your comment. Schools with similar names get confusing.
Seton Hall --in NJ has had BSN nursing for a while and has a new premed program. The Healthcare campus is moving to a new site in Nutley/Clifton. Looks like a good option for those in NJ who donât mind the split campus thing for now.
Seton Hill --in PA has a new BSN nursing program. You sent an article about it in another thread. Looks like a good new option in PA.
@12345hii Nice work on your admission to USF and Drexel. Terrific merit at Drexel with the scholarship and grant. Keep us posted and thanks for sharing
@RMA123 Congratulations on your acceptances to Univ of VT, West Chester U and Temple. The merit at U of VT is a nice bonus. Keep those results coming
@readthetealeaves Point Loma is in the running, but it does have some negatives. During my Dâs phone interview, the admissions counselor told her that PLNU has never not admitted a PLNU pre-nursing student to their nursing program that wanted to get in the program. That makes it pretty much direct entry; which, my daughter likes. It is one of the most expensive schools on her list, even with the merit. PLNU charges an extra $4,500 per year once in the nursing program. My wife and I have committed to pay up to the cost of a UC for our kids educations, but not more. This means my D would graduate with debt if she went to PLNU. She doesnât like the idea of graduating with debt.
A total of around $21K of federal student loans is not bad for a 4 year degree. Most of that would be subsidized. A student can stretch the payments out over 10 years.
The horror stories about debt involve people taking out lots of private loans in addition to federal loans.
Read the tea - thanks for the clarification.
