Just noticed that portal says “Status: Complete” today. Not sure if that was there previously. Also he received an email about what his preferred name is from admissions.

Anyone else?

Yes same status. I wonder if the responses are all at one? ED responses are supposed to hear back 12/1. And EA in December ?? When my son heard back EA a couple, years ago, it was before Christmas.

Looking at last year’s thread, I think EA started getting informed around 12/21 online and then merit showed up in the mail about a week later.

My son applied in October. His status said “Status: Complete” as soon as all of his required documents were accounted for. According to Miami’s website, ED should hear by 12/1, people who applied by the 11/1 EA deadline should hear by 12/15 and people who apply by the 12/1 EA deadline should hear by 2/1.

I’m not sure if they’ll hold all of the notifications till the prescribed deadline or not. My son heard from another one of his colleges much earlier than he expected. It and Miami are his top 2, so he’s anxious to hear from this one as well.

@kiminohio thanks for that. That’s a week earlier than I expected. Will merit still come in the mail about a week later?

I am not sure about merit aid. This is our first go-around. I only saw info about ‘financial aid’ being available by mid-March. It did not specify if merit aid and need-based aid would be issued separately.

@kiminohio last year ea decisions came out 12/21 online and the first person received their merit package in the mail on 12/28.

The link you posted certainly seems to indicate that the decisions will be earlier this year.

I’m hoping that they stick to the table on their website and we’ll be good. It’s our understanding that the table is set in stone as long as you get accepted, but I guess I could be wrong about that. Our daughter superscored a 33 after her last act, so she was very excited about that. GPA is a 92/100, so I don’t see any way that’s not higher than a 3.5/4. I just hope no surprises there.

Student Gender: Female

Home State: Ohio

Date Applied: October 4th, 2018

Have you visited the campus?: Yes

Major: Strategic Communications

Applying to the Honors Program or University Academic Scholars Program (UASP)?: Yes, Honors

ACT / SAT score: 33 ACT (single sitting), 34 superscore

GPA: 4.282 W, 3.795 UW

Anyone notice that the merit levels, at least for OOS went up?

I looked at the wayback machine and confirmed that 33+ was showing at $18K minimum in mid October.

It’s also quite clear that you are guaranteed the minimum amount.

@lexluthor5 Yes, it looks liked they upped it by 2k. That’s a nice base, I’m hoping that we get a little more and then it becomes more financially feasible. I know one of the other schools that my son applied to we got a letter with a much higher merit award than was listed on the website. I went and checked and all of a sudden the top award was what my son got.

My son applied - it’s on his Top 3 (according to him):

Student Gender: Male

Home State: Ohio

Date Applied: October 29th

Have you visited the campus?: Yes

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Applying to the Honors Program or University Academic Scholars Program (UASP)?: No to both

GPA: 4.1 W, 3.7(ish) UW

AP’s. Calc AB (3), AP CS (4)
taking Calc BC and AP Physics this year

3 years varsity letter soccer, president (and co-founder) of robotics club, NHS, member of Spanish club

Community service including 4 years volunteering as a soccer coach for special needs kids

Work experience - 8 years as a soccer referee, 1 year lifeguarding

Good luck to all the ED applicants. Just Heard: decision letters being mailed Thursday Nov 29. Portals will have the decisions 12/1 at 12:00am EST.

@Materof2 , ty for that info. Any word on EA decisions?

Admissions website says Dec. 15th for EA

I imagine re EA, they will follow suit as with ED, with portal decisions coming out earlier prior to email.

With ED portals will have decisions on 12/1 at 12:01am; and with EA i imagine it’s 12:01am on 12/15.

***Miami is, however, MAILING decision envelopes for ED on 11/29. So, I imagine depending on the mail, applicants living close to Oxford MAY hear as early as 11/30 via US Mail.

I wish all of you and your students the very best of news.
