Class of 2024 MT Artistic Acceptance Notifications: How/When/Where

@NeensMom I know that Marymount Manhattan is accepting video auditions through the first week of March. My guess it will be mid to late March.

yes @NeensMom, MMC says on their website all video submissions receive decisions in March
BAL!!

Marymount is usually pretty quick on yeses or no’s . I know a friends D sent hers early November and got a quick No within two weeks . I would call if I was you . My D auditioned on campus Saturday and got a yes 3 days later .

Sorry not November I meant January

@SingerDancerMom & @Bunny308 Thanks for your great support! We had a tough couple of weeks, but D has definitely moved on. Just trying to keep her chin up and hope for some good news in the next round!

@ElizaDoolittle & @DramaLove2020 I do agree that it’s probably for the best to get those No’s out of the way earlier, so you can adjust your plans if needed–we just somehow didn’t expect them to come so fast, so were caught a bit off-guard
Particularly for the schools that told us they’d notify in March!

@BloomingGirl I know the feeling! Some of the results have come so quickly, it feels like they wrote your kid off the minute they walked out of the audition room! Guess that’s the way this business goes, so they better get used to it–but it’s tough to watch

@NeensMom I don’t know about video auditions, but MMC was definitely quick with a No for D’s on-campus audition–that one came within 3 days
They did say they would notify quickly if you were already admitted academically but would wait for the academic admit if that part hadn’t come through yet.

Best of luck to all your kids in the final stretch!

Does anyone know when SUNY FREDONIA releases decisions? We were there yesterday and D loved the experience.

My D was at Ferdonia as well yesterday. She also enjoyed her audition . We heard your notice comes in the mail , pretty quick . A week or so .

thanks! My D was pleasantly surprised with the experience.

@toystorymom - Thank you for being candid with your update. I honestly think the fast No’s have more to do with repetitive type than talent. Easiest way to do the initial paring down of stacks of applicants. We are expecting another No any day now from a program that both D and I feel they made their mind up before she left the room.

D has asked me not to get specific with school names online, but we received a really big No this week. She dusted herself off and kept moving. I secretly took an extra day to mourn. I had been sold on it as much as D- Awesome training, close to home, she already has friends there, she LOVED the dance call and felt good about the audition. I suggested to D that we have a bonfire and do a marketing materials burn of rejected schools. Artistic rejection is fast and swift, but the marketing dept. doesn’t get the memo. (Looking at you, Pace).

@Sitzprobe Pace is the worst with the mailings and the phone calls!

Sorry about your big No. I hope it’s quickly balanced out by a big Yes.

Im just following this thread in the event my S23 decides to follow this route. (I can seem him more trying to double major with a music minor but time will tell). I like to get as much data as I can. We have a few in our senior class following a music path but mostly at state schools and going with music education. The lead in our school musical (which is going on now) announced hes attending St. Olaf after graduation (but for musical performance)

Congrats to all those who have received yes so far! Best of luck to all still waiting!

@Sitzprobe I hear Pace is all about type they have one of this and one of that and on the waitlist you are literally waiting for that other white, male, tap dancing tenor to drop out to get that spot - hang in there

@Sitzprobe. Sorry to hear about your big no this week. D has not had a no from a school where she has allowed herself to fall in love yet. She has heard LOTS of “no”, and a few have made her “sad”, but none from any campus that she visited and felt like she really “fit” there. We know they are coming, and the STRESS is killing her (and us). Between the stress of this, illness, her boyfriend breaking up with her, and STILL having auditions to complete, she is beyond done! But, on the bright side, the stress of this has kind of pushed the pain of the break up to the back burner!?

Sending hugs to you and your D!?

Oh my goodness @WDWMom , a breakup on top of everything? Lots of hugs to your D. These kids are so incredibly strong, just hoping for so many good things for them.

@Sitzprobe - hugs to you and your D! My D knew not to “fall in love” but she did anyway - twice - and both times got a rejection. It worked out well in the end but I carried resentment against one of the schools for
oh how long has it been - two years? I’m over it now
 I think.

@Sitzprobe Definitely feel your pain! I don’t know that D had fallen in love with any one program, which is fortunate, but there were a couple where she thought she might have a better chance of getting in and/or had a friend in the program, so those hurt a bit more
Maybe when we’re done, we’ll use your bonfire idea!

@WDWMom That’s a lot to deal with! These kids have so much stress with auditions that it’s easy to forget they have other things going on in their lives too–hoping your D gets some good news soon!

@NeensMom - my D submitted a video to Marymount in November. Got the ‘no’ last week for both MT and Acting. Ironically, they used her ‘wild card’ (which was a short film animation she’d done) to redirect and accept her into the Directing program. She’s flattered, but not the route she wants to take now. We’ve actually had that happen a few times with her Wild Card. Penn State and CCM also said ‘no’ to the MT programs, but made a special note about her WC, offering to pass on to the film schools / programs.

@StanfordAI2019 Wow! Obviously not the results she hoped for with those schools, but how cool that they all went out of their way to honor her other artistic talent!

Ignore this post, trying to clear this box!

My daughter just got a call from the Ball State program head telling her she was accepted to their MT BFA!
