Based on a suggestion from @TexasMTDad I have updated the list again. 2019 info is in brackets. 2020 info is clearly marked as 2020. That way if someone hasn’t updated 2020 info yet, you will still be able to see how things were announced last year. Please remove the 2019 info when you update for 2020. Thank you!

For whatever reason bbcode isn’t working the way it used to…

@NeensMom and everyone - you’re doing a great job preserving 2019 history (which is important for perspective until there’s new information) and updating for 2020 as news comes in. Some schools change, but the majority follow a pretty consistent pattern year after year.

School program managers, if you’re tuning in: 1) It would be wonderful l if you would publish notification method and timeline right on your website so families don’t have to hunt and peck for info. 2) We realize you are doing your best with limited funding and staff to manage such a large group of applicants that seems to increase in size and intensity each year.

Somehow, it does work out, but it sure is a rollercoaster between now and April 1 (and beyond, for waitlist movement)

@MTquest24 Do you know how many are waitlisted at Hartt?

Adding U Wisconsin Stevens Point, per email from Mark Hanson.

I see on this list above that Ball State is listed as: “2020 rolling - email and calls to accepted students. Email for rejection or deferral to another arts program, a few weeks after audition.” Has anyone that auditioned at NY Unifieds received an acceptance call or email from Ball State? I’ve read posts about re-directs but no acceptances. TIA

@SingerDancerMom we auditioned for Them in Chicago. Today received an email saying enjoyed your audition ect and that final decisions would not be going out until early March. Hope that helps.

I had the same question about Ball State. D auditioned in NY, still nothing in portal. Wondering why they email some and not others…

My D auditioned for Ball State in November (both MT and Acting) and still nothing, while others we know of who also auditioned in November have been sent the BA Theatre Creation redirect. I would assume this means still in consideration? But who knows.

@closemama, @IStressSoDWont, @SingerDancerMom - Last year Ball State sent out a bunch of redirect to Theatre Creation emails about this time. If you didn’t get one, you were still in the running for the BFA. On 2/15 my D got an email from Bill Jenkins, saying that they had been impressed with her audition and encouraging her to visit the school: it seemed like an email that had been sent to many people because it mentioned applying to the school if you hadn’t already, and my D had already been accepted to the school. Then on 2/25 they made calls with their initial offers. I think there were more redirect and rejection emails at that time as well. After that there were priority waitlist calls on March 12th (my D got one of those). They took people off the waitlist last year- we have a friend who came off the list a few days before decision day! My D decided on a different school, but she did love Ball State a lot! This is all from last year though: no guarantee that it will happen the same way this year, but hope this helps! Hang in there- we found the waiting for results was the hardest part of the whole process. Hugs to all of you!!

I initially thought we ‘overdid’ applications, but going through this process, I realize that we didn’t. Here is the current state for my D: (MT, Acting programs)

No wonder my kid is so tired!

@StanfordAI2019 I want to wrap your whole family in the biggest, warmest expression of support I possibly can via this platform!! Congratulations to you and your child, and best wishes that the process yields fruit that feels right in the end.

@StanfordAI2019 Your daughter wins the “prize” for most MT programs applied to of anyone I know.

(that must have been a lot of essays)

@StanfordAI2019 That’s over 40 programs! How is your kid?!!

LOL. She’s pretty tired. She knows as a Caucasian girl with brown hair, she will have a hard time standing out, so knew she had to spread the wealth. Fortunately, she’s a whiz with essays, so although hard work, she was able to crank those out pretty quickly. Glad this group is here. People just don’t get it who aren’t in the MT community. I think my D was admitted academically everywhere she applied (except for those that do joint decisions, like NYU), so it’s weird to see all the quick academic acceptances, followed by artistic rejections.

@StanfordAI2019 - W.O.W. I am so impressed… and happy you all survived!!! I hope your D lands someplace that makes her very happy, she has certainly worked for it.

Unfortunately, I think you need to put NCSA in the “no” list, as I understand it not making the callbacks at auditions means an applicant is no longer under consideration. You have a huge list still to hear from, hoping for good news on many!

@StanfordAI2019 WOW!! That’s a lot of work there…LIU Post is listed this year as a “top 30” mt school by OnStage Blog and everyone I have talked to who has been there or been part of the program loves the training (not the facilities, mind you!). I know several kids waiting and hoping for LIU acceptance that haven’t gotten them, so that’s good! There are still more options for video auditions. One thing that I would say is that you may want to have someone give her feedback on her audition material. I tweaked both of my students from August through last week (LOL). I will honestly say that going in with material within five years of your age (especially monologues) and that represents who you are as a performer is critical. And to find non-overdone monologues for girls 14-24 is ridiculously hard. Especially that actually have a real moment and aren’t just a ball of emotions and anger. Most of them are about being in love, losing love, not being loved…etc. I cut probably 20 monologues for the girl I am working with right now and we tried out maybe 7-8 of them. And about the same number for the guy. I read plays all summer to find these. Tried to find smaller, lesser-known options. I know that Southeast Missouri State still has auditions open (and does accept video submissions). Coastal Carolina has a strong BA program (both of my kids opted for that as their backup plan). University of Texas at Arlington is trying to build a new program and the director is just wonderful. I hope some of this helps. I am happy to share what I have with you! I think this weekend is the last audition for both of them at Texas Tech (hopefully!!!). OHHHH! And one of my previous kids who played “Tracy” in Hairspray is at West Texas A & M and LOVES it there!!! Really wonderful musical theatre program!!
