@ttb1263 - Just curious. Did she have to submit any extra material or essays to be considered for this sholarship?
She submitted both SAT and ACT scores first along with school profiles and her transcript sent by HS counselor. She also submit essays for Honors but I donāt think itās part of the meritās decision.
Hopefully your daughter will receive great scholarship. Also, there are still Chancellor scholarship available.
Good luck !!!
@ttb1263 My daughter submitted both SAT and SAT-II along with school profile and her transcript sent by HS counselor. She also submitted her Toefl scores, since we live in Brazil. She did not apply to honors, though.
I think our daughters have some tastes in common, because, if I am not wrong, your daughter also wants to major in Biology.
My daughter has similar stats too (in state) and only received $2000/year. She wrote 3 essays and submitted test scores (SAT 1570), transcript (4.0 unweighted, 4.76 weighted) and counselor recommendation. There doesnāt seem to be a set pattern as to how merit is granted.
From what I read so far, Pitt doesnāt give much merit to international students. I hate to give you this info but from their website, 2k/year is the amount: https://financialaid.pitt.edu/types-of-aid/scholarships/.
You should reach out to AO to confirm this info.
Good luck !!!
@RockyPA I think that is more difficult for instate to get big scholarships because the instate tuition is much lower.
@ttb1263 I am aware, but my daughter and my husband have American citizenship.
Oh, that is great news then.
This whole College admission process is so stressful and unpredictable. Itās hard to read what the evaluation process and each school is different. I hope that your daughter will receive more merit when Pitt finalizes the FA.
My daughter applied to 10 schools and hopefully she will find the āfinalā school that is affordable and āfitā.
Thanks, yes so stressful! My daughter applied to 16ā¦ hopefully something works out that is a good fit. Good luck to your daughter, too!
@ttb1263 - My daugher also applied to 10 schools. It is a rather stressful process. We do have to be patient.

Interestingā¦ very similar profile, and different merit. What school did your child apply to at Pitt? My daughter applied to the School of Computing and Information to study Computational Biology. She has 13 APs, (including Calc AB and BC, Bio, Chem, Physics C Mechanics and E&M, Computer Science) and a 4.0 unweighted/4.76 GPA from one the stateās top high schools (school doesnāt rank but she is pretty sure she has the 2nd highest GPA). She is taking a linear algebra class online as she ran at of math classes at school (took BC last year). She wrote thoughtful essays too!
Did she get the Chancellors invite? I thought for sure she would.
No, she didnātā¦
I think I read that your son, did? Congratulations, and good luck! I see you post on a bunch of similar threads! It looks like our kids applied to similar schools.
Thanks. Yea, Iāve been following your posts and I thought for sure she would get Chancellors invite. I have no idea what criteria they used. Your daughters stats are amazing. Good luck to her on Ivy day.
Im mistaken. Honors College she is in. Not Dietrich. I was thinking since she is in Science it was there.
