Same award as in $10k per year or $10k overall for all 8 semesters?

My D got $8k scholarship over 8 semesters - $1k per semester? Never heard of any school doing such a small scholarship. We were baffled  This scholarship wont help anyone financially and certainly wont help in decision making. Why would they just not do this for say 8 students and just give it all to one student who may deserve it and can put it to real use?

Anyways, iā€™m grateful Delaware considered us for a scholarship.

$10k/year

$1k/year is like nothing Iā€™ve ever heard from at at UDā€¦and Iā€™m alumni.

We are embarrassed and baffled at the same time - we got $8k for 8 semesters  Anyone else in here who got such a scholarship or are we the only special ones?

We are thankful that UD considered us for a scholarship, but i just wish they gave a more reasonable dollar amount to whoever they thought was more deserving without peanut buttering like this.

My kid got 1K a semester too. I just donā€™t get it - itā€™s almost pointless

My son got $0 for 8 semesters. Wasnā€™t expecting much, but the OOS merit table indicated $6k to 8k per year so we thought he would get something.

The table is wack.

Sorry yes

Could they not be factoring SAT/ACT scores? I figured ddā€™s ACT would be enough for the $17,000. Iā€™m sure they recalculated GPAā€™s so they were all on the same scale, my daughterā€™s was a 3.8 UW, and I think those with no A-ā€˜s got the top amount.

From a post in the honors thread. It does look like they are NOT considering test scores this year.

@ashley41 they arenā€™t which is why even mentioning a test score that the student didnā€™t even receive is unacceptable. If you arenā€™t using scores to determine the award why is UD saying the award is similar to those who scored XXXX?

Donā€™t say you are test optional, then award merit without tests and then mention a test score with the award that is nowhere close to what a student did achieve.

I was answering Mjkacmomā€™s question. The 2021 process in confusing and seemingly contradictory for sure.

I donā€™t think their merit is being based solely on GPA/scores, at least this year. My kid received an invite to the honors college and a Trustees Scholarship ($17k/year; $68k total). Their GPA and scores are solid, but not perfect. I donā€™t have anything to compare it with, but in my kidā€™s case anyway, the class rigor, recommendations and essays were likely strong (and because weā€™re OOS, our kid wouldnā€™t be able to attend the school unless the tuition was brought more on target with our in-state options) so I suspect at least one of those factors may have played a role.

@Maggieirv Congratulations! Did you get an email or just check the portal?

Just checked the portal!

Daughter just recejved acceptance today! Was in portal sent 12/25. Never thought to look on Christmas or even this week since offices are closed. No mention of merit tho
Did you receive merit offer with acceptance or does it arrive later? We are OOS.

@NJgirlmom Congratulations! My sonā€™s merit came a few days after the acceptance. It was in his portal for a day or two before we got the email. He saw it when he clicked on the Financial Aid button in the portal.

Thank you! Hoping she gets something. OOS tuition with no merit will mean knocking it off the list.
