Thank you!
The rumor of cancelling summer session is unfounded. There are no plans to do so, and it would be astounding if that happened. Technically anything is possible, but I not worry about it.
Has anyone heard of anyone getting in who went in as undeclared yet? It seems like they are doing it by major.
Bring on the Smeal drop already…paleeeeeze for the love of God!!!
And the liberal arts drop lol!!!
My D21 was admitted to DUS (undeclared) today. She applied EA Nov 15. We are relieved.
Does PSU release decisions on weekends? Should I check tonight at midnight?
Congratulations, what was her stats? Thanks
I would assume not. and even if, probably not exactly at midnight.
Yes what were her stats! That’s the first undeclared I’ve seen!
Her stats are 30ACT (submitted), 99 out of 100 GPA, all AP & honors courses, decent EC’s, in state. This was regular fall admission at U Park. Hopefully they will start rolling out more acceptances for you guys soon!
So is there any chance of decisions coming out on a weekend? Also, has anyone noticed a particular pattern in who is getting a decision (location, school, majors, anything besides scores) or is it like completely random.
If anyone has a theory as to what we are witnessing I’m all ears…
I don’t understand the process!
I’ve heard that they can release decisions Friday through Saturday. However, not on Sunday.
What is happening is what always happens with Penn State. The decisions are RANDOM. That means someone with extremely high stats may hear on the very last day of decisions.
While it’s true that earlier decisions are typically high stat students, that does not mean that ALL high stat kids hear earlier. Also remember that college confidential is a tiny subset of the actual decisions going out. I’m not sure they are statistically significant.
It’s beyond frustrating for applicants every year, but every year I assure people that not hearing yet means nothing regarding their overall application…and it doesn’t.
When I say decisions are random, I mean that. There is no pattern you will decipher. There is no magic formula. You may get a batch of Eberly decisions and then just one a few days later and then a random DUS, etc… While they do seem to deliver decisions for the same college around the same time, it’s the same thing - not everyone who applied to that major hears at the same time. There are people from literally every major who will hear early - and who will hear later.
The applications get sorted into so many “buckets” that it’s literally impossible to determine when you will get a decision. Not major, not state, not stats…none of it. It’s random. We all just have to wait - and this year I’m waiting for my daughter as well so I feel your pain - but it’s the same every single year.
Do you think it would be smart for me to change my test optional answer and send in my 1240 SAT with a 4.5/3.96 gpa? I’m pretty sure it’s right at the 25th percentile for UP, so I’ve been debating if I should send it or not to help my chances. I applied to DUS with the optional summer start.
Rule of thumb seems to be to submit scores if at or above 50 percentile, which is 1325 for University Park. I think I would leave it be.
i’m wondering if i should change my sat to test optional, i submitted with a 1290- 690 in english and 600 in math. any thoughts on if it’s a good idea?
I think leave it and wait for your decision to be released.
They are test optional.
Save the SAT score if you need it should they come back to you with something you are not pleased with.
