Class of 2025 Admissions DISCUSSION

My daughter got in 2 nights ago. Her buttons have been grey for a few weeks. Maybe it just means when they finally take it out of one pile and place it in the hands of someone who will make a decision. It could take them a day or weeks?

I haven’t seen any acceptances for the College of Agricultural Science … has anyone heard anything?

My son was accepted to Food Science at UP this past Saturday.

Wow you guys were busy last night! A couple things:

  1. When I said that decisions would be delayed if people kept calling, I didn’t mean that if YOU call, YOUR SPECIFIC decision will be delayed. I meant, logically, if the admission counselors are constantly answering the phone, they aren’t going through applications. So a ton of calls for no reason delays everyone’s decisions - not that you personally are penalized if you call. Don’t call to ask when your decision is coming. They will not answer you.

  2. The e mail - I think this is related to where we are in the decision cycle. An e mail stating decisions are coming soon is accurate - because it’s a week from the deadline. I wouldn’t read anything into it about your specific decision.

3)The TO button - it changed colors for some, not for others, but for most who had it disappear, it meant a decision was forthcoming. This is because you can’t change your application after a decision has been made. I wouldn’t pay any attention to the color, but if your button disappears then maybe that means a decision is forthcoming. That said, there have always been outliers in these things. The pictures used to change for most people, but not for all - things like that.

  1. HANG IN THERE GUYS! Decisions are coming. The waiting is brutal. I’m glad you guys are able to vent to each other here!

Thanks again for your advice! My son just received his decision today… He got in to UP for DUS in the summer session! We are so thankful for having that option available!

Wait where is this button? I sent my scores

It’s under the SRAR and Millennium Scholars App. Everyone has one - it allows you to change your TO answer if you wish. When that goes away it means a decision is forthcoming.

TO button is blue if you send scores ( don’t change it if you want to consider scores )

TO button will be gray if you choose test optional ( you click open and confirm again for test optional then will be gray)

TO button disappear means decision coming midnight

Not to complicate things - but if you look at the decision thread there is a decision from a poster who checked at 7am yesterday with no decision and by noon there was a decision. This is after a group of posters who heard overnight.

So as I’ve stated before, as decision deadlines approach, they do seem to update more than once a day.

Do with that what you will - I’d check morning and I’d check evening, but don’t drive yourself crazy checking.

I told my son to start checking when I heard people are getting Smeal acceptances so as not to keep getting caught up in this Groundhog Day of disappointment seeing no decision.

This, 100% this is facts!

I am trying to understand why so much anxiety over Penn State? It’s a great school don’t get me wrong. From everything I heard/read they are very stingy with aid and most OOS will be paying full price or close to it… maybe I am missing something…

Still nothing for my Smeal, marketing son.
We’re like🤦 over here because he applied early October with ideal…not too high, not below either, requirements. Totally their sweet spot and still no decision.

I think part of it is because so far senior year has been such a downer that this is all these students have to look forward to. Even if it’s not their top choice, these decisions are a sign of optimism for what lies ahead.

To be frank it’s not my son’s first choice but they’ve had his application for months now. He’d just like closure already with an answer.
