I think so based on patterns. So far looking at the decision thread, the only Smeals who were accepted last night fall start UP were in-state. So I’m hoping that’s why the rest of us haven’t heard. We submitted a test, but I think that doesn’t seem to make a difference, it seems it’s primarily grades they look at (which I think holds true everywhere, grades and rigor are the top two factors).

It’s interesting though the varying grades that have been accepted. But I think major/school applied to is a factor.

I think Smeal is one of the more competitive programs, it’s why my son applied to PSU, he had set criteria (big D1 school with strong school spirit and a good business school). Most of his schools fit this except two which honestly just reminded him of his high school so he felt a pull to apply.

To me, that doesn’t make sense either. Wow a 1500 SAT even. Talk to admissions in my opinion and see if they can shed some light to that.

DD was accepted to Smeal, but starting at Berks. We are out of state (TX).
GPA weighted 4.3

Almost all APs, ice hockey and lacrosse
We haven’t heard anything about financial aid or merit yet. Any feedback about Berks? Also, does Penn State have a good study abroad program?

Since you chose Premed as a major, my assumption is that you want to go to med school.
Please note that med schools see this as an “easy way out” - they want you to have a real major and show you can handle the premed pre-reqs. A major made of premed pre-reqs doesn’t cut it.
During registration, ask to switch to biochem (better career prospects if, like most students, you don’t get into med school, and need to find a job while you reaply)

@2025gn some did, but they seem to be in-state or 2x2 OOS I have not seen any Smeal UP fall start OOS in last night’s drop.
