Somewhere I heard due to Covid and uncertainty lots of colleges got 3 times more applications. That could be the reason most of this crazy 2+2 or Dus is what left over

Ya I feel like everyone I’ve heard of has gotten into penn state with a 2+2 plan even high stat kids… I’m kinda shocked
No like Yale got 40% more apps imagine
It’s a total mess this year
i cant understand why there would be MORE apps but honestly i feel bad for admissions officers with all these new changes its probably very stressful ahh
That’s true for AO with Test optional they opened flood gates so unimaginable volumes of apps and lots of international folks applied

Yep that’s also another factor lot of folks didn’t like online virtual attendance or classes and lots of international folks deferred to attend this year.
Many factors make this year admissions messy
DO check with your GC asap, letting them know you weren’t admitted to psu main campus, in case something wasn’t sent or went wrong, perhaps they can check your application to see whether everything is alright or if something needs to be improved or changed.
Penn State looks at GPA and curriculum rigor for most of its decision and it doesn’t really factor interest or yield protection. They may simply be testing your interest indeed (ie., if you’re really interested you’ll call to ask for DUS reconsideration or Summer session).
That being said, Smeal is the hardest college to get into with Engineering.

Ask to be reconsidered for DUS UP.
If you can afford it , DUS +Summer session.

I really hope this is incorrect info…yesterday my husband called (I know I know) and the person told him there would be decisions last night at midnight and then again Monday at midnight! 3 full days with nothing?! I hope that’s not correct. Any insight would be great!
Yikes, well I guess I won’t be sitting at my computer refreshing every 5 minutes for the next 3 days. Oh, who am I kidding…

I’m very surprised you didn’t get into UP. Smeal is the most competitive major at PSU and finance is the more competitive major working Smeal.
They wouldn’t know if PSU was your safety, so I don’t think that’s it. I would definitely call and ask to speak to an admissions counselor to get clarity if PSU is somewhere you’d like to attend. There are likely other options (majors) for you. You can always get into Finance from undecided (DUS).

Most likely correct. There have been decisions on Sunday’s in years past as the deadline approached, but it’s rare.
For what it’s worth - everyone LOVES summer at UP campus. I’ve never heard of anyone who was sorry they attended. It’s a great experience - you get 6 credits out of the way and you ease into the large UP campus before everyone descends in August. My daughter did summer and she will tell anyone it’s the best thing she ever did.
