Hey guys! I read earlier that they’re planning to release a big batch today? Is that true? I’m liberal arts so really hoping it is. If it is happening what time do you think it would drop?

I would assume to expect a release at midnight as last week for sure. Beyond that, no idea if they’d have more than one drop in a day or not.

My DD just got a message from honors college wishing her a happy holiday and that PSU is closed starting 12/23. I guess admissions decisions will come today & tomorrow then.

Here’s some crappy news. A friend just called the admissions office and asked since she hasn’t heard yet does that mean her kid will be deferred. The woman said “most likely deferred but maybe yes or no”. Why would an admissions person say that??
I didn’t think deferrals were very common at PSU in general? Sure they happen, but they aren’t the norm compared with other schools. My guess is deferral means they ran out of time and didn’t have time to give the applications the time and attention they need.
Possibly specific to your friend’s kid?
Two years ago there were lots of deferrals at the promised deadline due to a huge increase in apps. Let’s hope that’s not the case again.
I’ll say this, if they knew last week most left would be deferred and wait until the final second to defer them, that’s really cruel. You knew how many applications you had and you knew the deadline, so if you knew you were going to defer better to let them know earlier and not wait until the final second to make a kid feel like you just couldn’t bother to read their application.
Even worse, deferring them and then being closed so no one can even reach out to the office for a week or more.

there’s definitely going to be a drop tonight at midnight but i heard as they get closer to the decision deadline they’ll be dropping throughout the day, so maybe like sometime starting now and maybe throughout the evening? i’m not sure at all tho, psu admissions has a mind of its own!
@jlhpsu - any thoughts on this? You’ve had great insight into this whole process thus far, and I’ve really appreciated reading your advice. Do you think if an applicant hasn’t heard yet, they may likely be deferred? =0 My D has applied to Smeal, and no decision yet. She applied TO, and the button on her portal is still blue. It actually disappeared for a little bit this past Friday and then reappeared later in the day!
