just got accepted into summer session! CHECK UR PORTAL!!!
Feel guilty but I peeked - son accepted fall UP aerospace engineering! OOS. What a roller coaster. Best wishes and happy holidays to to everyone, what a nice group to wait it out with!
Also I can’t speak for every PA high school, but I know a lot of kids at mine always end up going out of state because there are many schools that are much cheaper to go to out of state, along with more scholarships available. Pitt and Penn State also don’t give much merit, so we do have a lot of kids go there, but if they were less expensive we would probably have more.
Seems like lots of holiday cheer being spread out this morning!
Congrats to all accepted.
It’s a special place.

Accepted to UP campus for CAS, fall start! OOS
D21 accepted to UP campus, College of Agricultural Sciences. We might have screamed a little!
Portal was updated and DD was accepted to UP fall 2021. College of liberal Arts for Psychology. We are OOS
Gotcha!! That explains why it is more expensive than other state schools. Thanks!!
Congratulations!!!
Np!! I didn’t know this until our guidance counselors gave us a presentation about state vs. state affiliated schools lol!
Accepted, Smeal, UP fall start!
Congrats. So happy for you!

PLEASE POST YOUR STATS IN THE ‘DECISIONS’ THREAD!
Helpful to future applicants.
Yes that’s why! Penn State gets very minimal funding from the state compared to the actual state schools in PA that get most of their funding from the state. Penn State is considered a Land Grant State Related university…Pitt and Temple are also state related.
daughter accepted HHD but has to go to summer is there anyway to appeal for the fall or is this decision final?
1360 sat with decent ECs and okay grades
Portals finally updating. Son accepted to University Park for Fall Start in College of Engineering w intended Comp Sci major. Will wait & see if he joins his older sister who’ll be a Senior there in the Fall…
One thing I’d just like to alert parents of 2026 is that if PSU means UP and you are using Naviance to make decisions in terms of where to apply, it does not tell you the whole picture.
We are OOS and almost everyone from our school shows accepted. One of the accepted options though is guaranteed transfer. At least at our school, it’s not separately broken out so it’s counted as an acceptance to PSU. From what I’ve been seeing on this message board, the stats to get in for UP for 4 years are much higher than Naviance would predict for those that didn’t know.
If she doesnt want to start in the summer or you cannot afford it* would she consider starting at Altoona, Harrisburg, or Erie?
*if instate , you could say you cannot afford summer session, do they have extra FA for Pennsylvanians admitred for the summer?
nothing to do with finances, just doesn’t want to be in school in the summer. I live 5 minutes from abington, we do not want to do a satellite campus either. darn…
