Class of 2025 thread

She has a 3.7 gpa. No sat or act due to circumstances

Your thoughts she will still be accepted?

My son was with good merit with. 3.4 and 25 act.

Also, if she’s undeclared is she better off declaring a major for merit?

I think she will get I no issue. No way I’d apply ED. And you still have time to test. It’s be silly not to. Apply test optional if it’s stinks or use if it doesn’t. I’m hopeful Charleston is a great school as my daughter is attending. But from a rank and admissions difficulty it’s cake. I’m sure a 20 Act gets in. 25% are 22 or less.

Thank you!

My DD loves the area.

It’s why my daughter chose it. Just don’t fall in love with any school - because finances may not work out or you might get such a great deal from other schools, you just have to go!! You definitely won’t need ED. I think at private schools ED helps - they know you are going - but be assured you are willing to go regardless of money. I think that’s dangerous.

And the CC is riddled with people who applied because they had a low salary and no assets and thought a school would give them a free ride…and yet now they have to come up with $40 or $50K. Even full pop, OOS, C of C is over $50K.

Anyone go and like it. My daughter is afraid she’s not pretty enough.

My daughter is there and loves it.

what do you mean - she’s not pretty enough? Is this a joke?

No. She saw the admitted student instagrams and she feels they are all thin and beautiful and no one will want to room with her. I wish it were a joke. She is thinking she’ll be judged. She’s a great kid. Really down to earth. I wish she had more confidence.

Yeah, i’ve been there to see my daughter.

I know many kids lack confidence and looks and I get that.

Hopefully she’ll go in, make a great contribution (take part in campus activities) and she’ll be fine.

It is a female dominated school but my daughter tells me many of the girls date guys from Citadel.

If it’s the right school for your daughter, she should go in a kick a$$ - and i’d say that about any school.

Good luck to her.

Anyone’s kids receive merit with less than a 4.0 UW GPA and 1200 SAT? The net price calculator on the website says those are the thresholds for merit-based aid. I have a kid who is very interested in CoC, but $200k for an undergrad liberal arts degree is not happening.

My daughter was accepted last year with a sub 4.0 UW and got $17,000 in merit per year. Not sure how much the parameters have changed, but I thought I would chime in for some reference.

Again, last year, but my daughter’s weighted was under 4.0 but a 1320 SAT. CoC ended up being the equivalent and NJ state schools and she got honors college. But make sure you look into the housing situation- lots having to live off campus and it’s super pricy.
