<p>How closely do they check to see if you have actually completed the pre-reqs for a class? I'm waitlisted for chem3b right now and there's a high chance I won't get in. Its my only remaining pre-req before I can start my upper division science MCB classes. If I don't get in, can I sign up for MCB 102 or 104 even though I haven't completed chem3b? How essential is the ochem material in MCB 102?</p>
<p>it’s essential if you want a true understanding of the stuff, but the exams don’t test much of the mechanisms. you could probably get away with just straight-up memorization of those parts i guess. i would not recommend it though.</p>
<p>you can take 102 without 3b. my friend’s doing it.</p>
