Hello CC,
I am a junior and I just got back from a tour at Brown today and I feel compelled to apply ED as it seems perfect for me. I have a lot of leadership experience and awards, a lot of activities relating to politics (I intend to do poli sci), and very good academic grades.
Here is what is holding me back: Class Rank
- I attend a vocational technical high school meaning I spend one week in my technical area (mine is culinary arts) and then one week in my academic classes, which is a very intense week as we learn all the same material
- Since only half of my time is spent in academics, it only counts for half of my GPA. My shop has the hardest grading scale in the whole school (my luck) and i consistently get a 90 while other shops give out a 100 to nearly everyone
- Therefore my class rank is about 53/300 with a peak at 36/300.
- Will this hold me back? Could my counselor explain this circumstance and they will ignore my rank?
- Any relevant comments to how Brown, or other top schools, factors class rank or any advice to my circumstance would be greatly appreciated
