Class rank at Washu (engineering)?

This is just a curiosity thing, for any of the engineers here...is it true that the engineering school has class rank? (I dont think ArtSci has it). Just curious about grade distribution....

BME here. I’m pretty sure this is false. Or if it is true, it is news to me. I’ve never seen it anywhere (including webstac etc).

It’s true, actually. I don’t know if it has any meaning, but engineers are in fact ranked.

Go to Webstac and, under Unofficial Transcript, do a ctrl + F for “engineering rank,” without the quotations.

I dont have it but thats because I just transferred from artsci this semester, I think

3.3 is known to be about the median for engineering class rank (although it typically increases after 1st and 2nd years)

It’s listed as an honor, along with dean’s list and others. Its out of 332 right now, but I don’t think it’s calculated until after the semester ends.

It’s calculated when they calculate dean’s list about 4-6 weeks after the end of the semester. It’s a comparison to all of the other engineers that have expected graduation year the same as yours.

I have been corrected. I guess rank does exist. I don’t believe it makes any difference (ie. med/grad schools care about gpa, not rank), but it is there. 74/277 here :)

Any idea what a ~3.75 would be? haha, I know I’ll find out eventually, but I’m curious…

About 20 people had a 4.0 after 1st semester, I would say 3.75 puts you ~80th, though thats a rough estimate at best.

That was a damn good guess, Pat. I had a 3.76 and that’s just about 80%.

Oh, high-five for being up past 2 AM.

I have a 3.74. See my rank above…
