So here's the problem. I know that I am valedictorian of my class or roughly 700 students (my counselor just confirmed it to me). This would be a great boost to my application, but recently, my school did away with class rank. On the CommonApp, you can self submit this data, but my transcript will not say that I am ranked #1. The CommonApp will list my GPA, though, and also list the highest GPA in the class (which is mine). Should I self report my valedictorian status?

Wow, that really sucks.

I don’t know why they would do that to you while you are in the throes of college apps. That’s the kind of change that should be instituted with an incoming freshman class, and sophomores onward should be left unchanged. Personally, I would self-report it, and make sure the counselor validates/explains the situation in his/her report.
