It's the end of the quarter, and I just found out I got a B in Calculus BC. I don't know how much this will drop my class rank, but will it hurt my chances for getting into Yale? I mean, I don't want to sound obsessive or picky, but are B's okay? Hopefully this will be the only class that I get a B in, it's my first B, and I am planning on taking 15 APs, getting A's in those so I guess that will look good. I'm so distressed because I truly don't want this B to screw me over.

Relax, Boston! In the same way that getting an A in calc BC wouldn't guarantee your getting in, getting a B won't keep you out.

A B seriously wouldn't be the determining factor of your admission to Yale. There have been, as evidenced by the EA/RD Results thread on CC, students who have obviously had B's and maybe even C's who got into Yale. Don't be stressing about grades too much, but work on getting your app holistically favorable, such as your essays, ECs, etc.

And if it makes you feel better, I think I have a C in one of my AP classes. ;) I'm still applying :P

You said B five times... lol...

Oh come on... I have two B's in sophomore, junior years, and expecting one for this semester as well...

and I'm gonna apply EA...

I've got some Bs too

...and I'm EA as well

Really, a B is fine.

seriously a B does not matter.

i don't think it'll matter too much

I have a B in BC Calc, too! Except the highest average in the class is a B+....
I think that colleges understand that BC Calc is uber hard.

I had a B in BC first semester last year... waiting to get shot which is probably more damaging to me than to you, considering I also have 4 other B's and a C under my belt

But I'm still applying EA! Hahaha...haha...ha.

A good percentage of the people applying to Yale will not have perfect 4.0 GPAs. I got a B+ in a class year and am anticipating one this semester too. It's not a big deal, especially if your class rank is still very high. Don't worry too much!

I have a B TOO!!! In multivariable calculus. Therefore it is a slight accomplishment.

A 4.0 in a really strenuous high school load means grade inflation... lol...

Not if 90=A=4.0.

at my school, a 93-100 is a 4.0, and a 90-92 is a 3.7.. is it like this at you guys' schools, too?

^our school got rid of percentage grades altogether!

one B won't matter...

peytoncline- it is the same way aat my school 2 that system sorda sucks wen u consider people at other schools getting a 4.0 for there A-

Haha, we didn't have percentage grades in the first place.

Is that something our in the coasts, or is our school just...unique? XD

Boston what school do you go to? Latin?
Well, at least a B shows that you're human.
