class rank is so skewed

my school’s ranking system is majorly f***** up! They weight honors as only 1.2! Therefore, all the honors I have taken have barely given me a boast at all. Subsequently, all the ■■■■■■■ who are getting a 4.0 bc of their study halls & home ec classes have a much better rank than me! errr…is there anything I can do?

I go to a very competitve public school and it doesn't weight honors classes at all, and only weights APs 0.4. Don't complain!!!!!!!

I go to a school that does not weight honors or AP'S so beat that :) Yeah class rank at my school is a tad bit skewed due to the unweighted nature of the school.

I don't think weighting really matters because every college rep. I have spoken with says that their school unweights GPA's then recalculates, or just looks at the unweighted portion. I wouldn't loose too much sleep over your weighted GPA if I were you.

My school doesn't weight anything, and doesn't count classes like chorus, band, gym, and art in GPA, so I actually think our system is pretty accurate.

I would not fret about this issue either. It's not as though adcoms receive your transcript and only look at the GPA. They'll be looking at EVERYTHING! They will be seeing what kinds of classes you've chosen to take. They will also receive from your hs its profile and how your GPA was calculated. If they see that no weight was given to aps and/or honors classes, they will use their brain power and understand that those courses obviously have more merit than regular cp classes. Don't worry, they won't cover up the entire transcript and view only one or two little numbers.
